Regarding the latest Windows 10 Update

I was personally was not impacted by this bug found in the latest system update (1809), but I find it unprecedented that users would report this issue three months before the official release, and MS did nothing to fix it.

Things like this is what pushes away customers from purchasing Windows 10 and sticking to 7 or 8. This is ultimately because 7 is easier to navigate through, more lightweight, and it's updates aren't like this.

If MS should release an update, it's no question that they should do proper testing before this!

But, I'm interested in what you guys got to say. Were you impacted?

A week or two before this update came I made the switch to Linux. I run Arch Linux now and I'm pretty happy with what I have now.

If I had drivers then I'd be using Windows 8.0 (not 8.1!) or Linux. I'm staying on 1709 until I get touchpad drivers for Linux. Luckily I found a way to (it seems like) permanently disable updates, so I'm safe now. Or if I figure out how to adjust the backlight without installing the (nonexistant below Lose10) Intel drivers then I'll go back to Windows 8.0

I prefer 8.0 because it just feels better to use than 8.1, and it also seems to be a lot more stable for me. Though to be fair, even if internally 8.0 is actually better than 8.1, it's nearly impossible to hunt down a 8.0 iso, including tools and other stuff.

i wasn't affectee by the file deletion bug, however, i was affected by the one where cortana would spam you with hundreds of notifications bug, as well as gameDVR being completely broken

when i rolled back it caused me more problems than if i would have stayed. start menu wouldn't open, settings wouldn't open, wsreset would give an error. i had to reinstall

@LiveLatios go into a non-fullscreen game, take a screenshot, open the notifications sidebar thingy (I have a button on the bottom-right of the task bar to open it), right click on the "screenshot saved" notification, then turn it off. Since I have turned off the notifications for DVR I never had any problems with DVR or anything related to recording other than the toolbar not opening in some games.

Windows 10 isn't my favorite, that spot goes to Vista/7

@Sono i have it into "focus assist" mode, so i don't actually get notifications, but when i checked them there were like 478 of them all of them within the span of 5 minutes, as for the game DVR problem, here's some footage of what it'd do
this one it didn't even bother recording the video

and this one it decided to severely corrupt the audio

as a side note, i really liked the dark explorer feature, i got used to it... but i'll have to wait till 1809 re-releases

since ms's latest update for win 10 x64 pro i got issues recovering from sleep mode, before it always seems right but now my pixels all get messed up when waking my pc.
for a pay'd OS it's really depressing me compared to free OSes like kubuntu, just too bad steam isn't seeing it the same way.

I was infected by this bug. It erased all of my pics that I've been collecting for the past 3 years. Jumped fully to Linux shortly after that

I wasn't affected by this bug but it gave me a lot of other really pain in the ass issues. (I was so mad at the time that I wrote a rant on my GBATemp blog, before the reports of user data being deleted poured in)

But yeah, I rolled back to 1709 and @Sono helped me with disabling updates permanently. I'm fine for now but I'm still thinking about switching to Linux later down the line, I just can't trust Windows 10 at this point.
