My introduction thread; ruined by idiots.

What a shit experience this has been so far.

So I’ve been wanting to join GBAtemp for a while now but always had a tendency to back off because a lot of the community in websites like these is annoying kids, abusive moderators, and just a whole lot of stupid people.

But fuck it,

I’ve been pissed of at life lately and decided what the heck. So I made an account. Just to really go all out I made an introduction thread titled:

“Hello GBATemp! My name is Paolo and check out my signature!”

I made a Linkin Park themed signature gif that I spent an hour and a half making. I took the METEORA album logo and pixelated it, mirrored it, and got a cool font and made my name vibrate; I thought it was awesome.

So for the first couple posts everything was fine. I had some people tell me how to improve my signature, to make it less shaky and smaller. Those were helpful. I liked those posts.
The bullshit didn’t start happening until the idiots in the reply’s started talking about NancyDS or some shit, and some dude was posting unrelated and unfunny meme/pictures.

My first thread was only alive for twenty god damn minutes before going down the shitter at the hands of the commenters.

But yo now what fuck that.

I can care less about the thread, I just want to see how people liked my signature.

EVERYBODY FUCKING HATED IT.

I felt defeated.
My own thread and reputation, all blown within one of my first threads ever.
Ugh

I was hoping to make a rosy cheeked happy blog post as a way of introducing myself (after my thread went bad), but I can’t help at being pissed of right now.
Ah well.

I’ll learn to like it here.

I used to have an account on Tumblur back when I went through this political phase in middle school and HOLY SHIT.

I was BOMBARDED with people who actually believe your profile heading and they all went full blast on me because I started posting political stuff.

Everyone coming in here and overloading the poor guy with old memes and references he’d never get lol.

Margen was just someone who liked to troll the forums, another user in the long list of people banned for taking things too far.

Margen67 is a genius visionary. He created some of the Springfeel and Bailbonds shit you see everywhere now. A true pioneer and patriot. Very few things I wouldn't do for the guy.

A lot of his shit is controversial and gets taken down constantly.

Vipera was one of our more volatile members. He'd argue with anyone over anything and he seemed to think the mods were corrupt and out to get him. I don't remember what finally sent him over the edge, but long story short, it ended with him being banned, creating a new account, telling the mods to go fuck themselves, and then doing it all over again once the new account was banned. He seemed to hate me in particular, probably because of the snek memes, so he's been the butt of most of my jokes.

I think you're taking it personally. Nothing has ruined your reputation, that whole thing had nothing to do with you. It doesn't take much to derail a thread and it's kind of hard to get it back on track once it happens, just, what Chary said essentially.
It's not a bad signature, it's just kind of basic IMO. Maybe it would be better if you didn't pixelate it, the jaggies are a bit much.

Sorry, that face up there is the best I can do to simplify a reaction to this. Though first impressions are important to a Tee, but if it's only been such a short time, I'm not sure how to consider it first reaction. Most people set a goal of tolerance before making a conclusion, like a week or month or something measurable to give fair analysis.

Not to make this about me or someone else, but maybe look at some other introduction post, some people could get potentially same treatment or worst. All I can say here is "Expect the unexpected" You could end up with no friends or lots of them, you can end up having really heated controversy or simple conversations that's just fun to participate in. Sometimes you just have to try and give it time. Or if you feel overwhelmed, take a break and come back later. :)

But in the end, if you see a problem, just use the report function to tell a moderation about it, as long as is not petty reasons like disagreeing with someone else, only genuine intentional discomforting comments that leads to actual controversy will suffice. :P

Sonic Angel Knight if you expect the unexpected then technically the unexpected was expected all along. So isn't it then wrong to say expect the unexpected it surely should be expect the unknown or something along those lines lol

Well it basically means to be prepared for anything since anything can happen. How do you do that? Well while that sounds impossible, I guess is more about trying to lower the chances of being caught off guard rather than taking the literal sense and being ready to face one of a million different possibilities that can happen.

Do we have to think deeply about this? Just ignore me, I'm a ninja, I shall continue to lurk. :ninja:
