Spirited away is the most overrated movie ever and it sucks.

tldr; fuck this movie it’s overrated and it’s lame and if you like it then let’s not be friends, ever.

Okay,

So I used to watch a shit-ton of anime when I was around 14/15 years old. I know that makes me kind of gay or whatever but fuck that, I just was just in it for the “plot”,
Catch my drift?

I watched only the cringey ones though, like High School DxD and Code Geass and stuff.
Whenever I talked about anime with someone who didn’t know much about it; they would always reference the Miyazaki films.

The Miyazaki films are basically anime movies that are directed by the same guy, so fancy that.

So I looked it up on rotten tomatoes to see what score they got and apparently his top rated movie was at 98%, and it was called “Spirited Away”.

With a rating like that, how can I resist?
I watched it.
I studied it.
I fucking hated it.

For starters, there’s no conflict.
Even in the shittiest anime I’ve ever seen there’s some basic level of drama or thrill, but in this movie, the most thrilling the movie gets is when the weird faceless guy kills some dude (for no fucking reason).
All the rest of the fucking movie is the least bit entertaining.

The movie is pretty artsy, sure, but none of it has any weight to it.
There’s dragons and monsters and shit but no actual symbolism or sign of any deeper meaning.

It’s like looking at a bunch of still life paintings.
They’re pretty, sure, but have no deeper meaning or reason to remember or think about them.

There’s no conflict, plot, or even that kind of “plot”, just artsy fartsy little pictures all lined up in a row.

The big fucking twist in the movie is when the ninja boy reveals that he’s some Jesus of some fucking lake or some shit that nobody fucking cares about, what a shock!
Also chehero (or whatever her fucking name is) returns to reality at the end and her parents are completely fine and have no memory of her little acid trip she was on the whole movie, give me a break.

In short, if you still like this movie despite all of this, let’s not be friends, ever.
We’ll go our separate ways, and you can watch all the shitty movies you want and I’ll keep watching my eechi anime.

And then, we can both be happy.

So, that's your opinion, Yes, here's mine :)

Seems like, your type of movies have to have some big conflict like an ongoing war that's been going on forever, and gonna reach a tipping point. And it sounds like your animes must have big tidds

the plot, maybe kinda weird, family is moving, they come across a tunnel which leads to a empty town, with a bunch of tasty looking food, which the parents eat, and turns them litterally turns them into pigs. Daughter tries to leave, sees that she can't, Creepy shit comes out, terrifies her, She seems like thanos snapped his fingers, and she slowly is dissapearing, until Boyfriend comes along and gives her some food, which stops her dissapearing. and now she tries to stop her parents from getting eaten, while working at a cleaning house for spirits.

~~~~ Exposed to the corruptive thoughts and greed of the workers, he quickly grew to encompass their personalities, hoping that his endeavor to be like those around Chihiro would eventually garner her affection for him. While this ultimately brought upon the opposite effect, Chihiro was somewhat true to No-Face after she invited him and accepted help from him.~~~~
Incase you are too lazy to look it up ;)
There’s no conflict, plot, or even that kind of “plot”,
you seem just mad that there isn't anything raunchy.
Surprise, not all anime's are hentai
the headmaster tries to litterally take her name, and boyfriend tries to stop them, There's conflict lol. Like Blood, paper airplanes from the headmaster sent to kill him. also boyfriend is also a dragon. Like, gunk monster wants a cleaning, biggest thing every, it might not be much "thrill" but it is interesting. if you studied it, you would have known why No face god was there, and why he ate the frog guy, like even a simple google search brought up several interpretations.
There's my opinion :)
from my time using rotten tomatoes, i learned that those scores don't mean ANYTHING, critics are just a bunch of old farts that appreciate camera angles and lighting cues that literally no normal viewer would care about. I saw spirited away and i was bored out of my mind when i watched it, like i don't care about this girl's pig parents
well not everyone likes certain movies but the point is, this rant really isnt valid, he just complained theres no hentai in the movie at all, and just because someone likes a movie and you dont doesnt mean you cant be friends
Most Studio Ghibli films are terrible. If you ever want to waste a couple hours, check out Grave of the Fireflies. Supposed to be one of the saddest movies ever, instead the only sad thing is how much time you wasted watching such a retarded movie. The "sad" parts are so forced and ridiculous, and only exist because the boy is a giant ungrateful retard.
It's better in Japanese, FWIW. But it's way down the list Ghibli movies for me. My favorite is Kurenai no Buta, i.e. Porko Rosso. Also, there is a Lupin III movie called Castle Cagliostro that Miyazaki did before Ghibli which is super.
Also, it's a little harder to be impressed by these movies nowadays with CGI and what-not being available to animators. But if you watched Laputa, Kurenai no Buta, Cagliostro, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Tonari no Tottoro for the first time almost 30 years ago as I did, it was mind-blowing.
Why bother reviewing a shit movie? Just put it aside and write about something you enjoyed.
When you're 90 years old, I doubt you'll be saying 'I wished I spent more of my life writing movie reviews on a forum'
