Sad blog entry with no title (pictures about 330kb)

Normally I tend to write long blog articles. Not this time. Quite the contrary, I just wish everybody around me in real life would just stop talking so much nonsense and saying the same things over and over and over again. Losing someone you love is an awful feeling. Sinchen has pretty much nothing more to say:

There is this imaginary, scary guy who comes without being invited whenever he wants – or stays away for too long when he’d better appear on time.

Life is unfair, we all should know this - thus I don't write an essay. Normally I don’t use curse words in the forum/blog. But I do this time:
FUCK CANCER!

It took me two days to build the pictures. “Death” was quite some work. I hope to finish a “beads comic” in the next weeks.
I will use Mr. Death for some time as my avatar.

That's amazing work! I've seen bead art but it is usually just copies of pixel art. Never seen anything original before.

@Quantumcat - heh, I'm not really a fan of these iron-to-melt-together things, but the only time I bought some it was so that I could copy them in Animal Crossing

@leon315 How is this not a constructive hobby? Creating something in your spare time is literally productive, dude.

Christ, you're the real puzzle mate. Being able to create what is essentially a form of art has plenty of physical and mental benefits just like any other form of creating art.

I am very sorry if my reply was inappropriate. I just didn't get what people said over and over again.

Fuck cancer.

@Bimmel Your question was not inappropriate. But it would really make no sense to answer it because you are missing the complete context. In general: It is about phrases and buzzwords.

@Quantumcat I have to confess: I'm not a very good artist and this work is based on game sprites. (Last time I did build some original pictures).
  • The crow is a 1:1 copy of "The Spiteful Crow" (Earthbound) as well as my regular avatar is Paula from Earthbound.
  • Death is based on his sprite from Castlevania III - Dracula's Curse (different colors, some more colors and some other modifications).
  • The tombstone based on a sprite from a more modern Castlevania - but not a pixel perfect copy in any way (vastly simplified).

The only comment that I found inappropriate has been deleted. It was not me (although I just found out I can in fact delete comments on my own blog entries). The only thing I have deleted was my answer to the (now missing) comment.

Again: I would never delete critique - even if I think it is "invalid".

Well, I wanted to see you do more Perler bead work; I'm sorry it had to come out this way.

You did a really good job--maybe next time, Richter whipping Death in the butt?

BTW, the uploader, "Youtube'd it up" at 0:51, but that's the length of the skit.

Thank you for the interest in my work and for your kind words.

Again, I am not a very good artist and mostly just copy (partially modified) sprites.

Most modern sprites simply have too many colors and can be really huge. On the other side: I can get beads in little more than 30 colors using two different brands (not counting some glittering types) and the picture plates are small.

I had a look at the sprites from Symphony of the Night. Richter Belmont is possible. Death: very hard. He is large (fits in a rectangle of 85*82 pixels) which means I would have to use 9 picture plates (29*29 each) connected together.

Alternatively: “Portrait of Ruin”. Death is even bigger (83*102 pixels – meaning 12 plates to connect). Too many violet colors (or gray shades) and the beads for this single picture cost about 10€.

@KleinesSinchen

You're very welcome, KS.

You know, you might be able to mix-n-match:

You could get really creative with cardboard, clay, paint--any material.

Speaking of materials, I believe you could make this into a side-gig, which would cover materials.

To add to that, I was on ebay and maybe this
I know, I know, but 13K at $11.00 is pretty good; I'm sure the are better deals when you get more.
