CNN has "News" in its title, but you don't challenge the fact that they mostly do opinion based reporting on that channel which means they are hardly a "News" source.

It's a shame that the left has wasted so much time attacking Trump, the right, Christians, and non-lgbt/non-poc's (and me on here) that they have lost all sense of what they were supposed to stand for (equality, justice, and peace). I didn't leave the democrats, they left me.

1) fighting climate change/global warming...... oh, wait, they let kids skip school today, most people made an extra trip in their cars and flew on planes to get to the protest which actually increased the carbon footprint today compared to if they just went to work/school. They also left litter all over the ground. I guess that leaves this out. Sorry.

Ad hominem is what this is.
In some countries like germany there is a lack of teachers so it doesn't make much of a difference if they skip because of protests or because there is no teacher available and they need to catch up for the missed content anyway.
The planet doesn't give a fuck who produces the carbon. Spreading awareness alone makes up for all the released carbon of the protestants and beeing aware and aknowledging the problem trying to find solutions is worth a million times more than sitting there and calling global warming fake or trying to spread lies about it. Long term vs. short term effect.

You don't really attempt anything. Your opening thread is highly passive aggressive, you give the false pretense of opening up while in fact you're just looking to criticize the "opposite team", even though some (most?) of theses critics are just as easily applicable to yours.

But let's comment on your "devil's advocate" arguments then:

- You don't even say how fighting climate change is bad, you're just happy to counter it by stating that our society is filled with double standards. Well yes it is, both in the left and right. We've been used to being kings of the world all our lives. Meaningful changes take time but denying it's a problem is borderline criminal today. As pro-life supporters, this shouldn't be a laughing matter to the right. Air pollution kills millions each year. It kills more than abortion. The left at least doesn't publicly deny it's a problem which has terrible consequences for the easily swayed. In many countries you are not spammed with unnecessary plastic bags whenever you do shopping like it's nothing. The US are absolutely terrible at it. Heck even China has opened up about it and is trying to get better now.

- Constitutions and rights are written and decided by humans at a specific time in history. They're not set in stone and it's not unhealthy to question them. It could be your right to own war-grade arsenals of weapons, rocket launchers and whatnot, but some things are deemed potentially too dangerous and this threshold may change over time. This is what's in question here. You're saying "nothing is done against criminals" as if it was an issue with the left only. Did things change the last few years? Did focusing on immigrants as it was the top priority of America help reduce shootings? How are thoughts and prayers working so far?
No, it didn't change. Both the right and left failed. And that's what's so annoying with people who cannot think outside of their political teams. You're as incapable of dealing with issues as the left is, and you will never be if you don't start focusing on what can be done rather than what the other side does wrong.

See the pattern? For all your arguments (except maybe regarding the abortion topic), you're trying to tag them as a left issue, while in fact it is applicable to both sides. You're doing nothing but playing the game of our politics, which is very convenient because while we fight over the same 2-3 topics over and over again our politics don't have to deal with more rampant issues (mental illness, severe lack of safety net, obesity, and yeah, global warming and the potential dawn of capitalism).
Ignore the extremes if you want a honest debate. In their majority, republicans are not nazi and liberals are not inclusive-obsessed freaks.

There -are- differences of course, but they boil down to opinion and how much importance you give to them. That's why I won't comment on things such as pro life and pro guns. I do understand and recognize the need to debate (debate, not mock others opinions). I will also gladly admit what the left does wrong (limiting free speech typically is never a solution, for one) but maybe you should start by doing a retrospective on the right first and maybe then give a second shot at this little game.

@deinonychus71 This last comment was a lot better in the fact that you actually discussed (in a way) what this blog was about, and I can say without doubt that you at least skimmed over some points.
The problem I have when discussing topics with liberals on here (other then the outright disregard of my opinions including the hate they give towards me for sharing them) is that everybody expects me to look at both sides (more like only agree with the left) when I lived most my life on the left and now I have realized that my viewpoints were wrong. This is why I side more to the right than center or left now.

Climate change is bad if it will kill human life, true. Real climate change is unstoppable as we cannot stop the changing of Earth's axis, the revolution around the sun, random solar flares, or how the moon effects our oceans/atmosphere. Man made climate change is a hoax. Carbon dioxide is absorbed by the plants both on land and in sea. The warming we are experiencing is due to the axis shift which is also causing the north pole to have more exposure to daylight causing the glaciers to melt. Funny how climate change warriors go to see the melting glaciers and their ship gets stuck in ice. Hmm, global warming, huh?

Just to start off with pollution about your air/abortion comment, 4.6 million die each year from air pollution worldwide. There is an estimated 40-50 million abortions performed worldwide each year. I think abortions have this one. For the plastic bags, other forms of bags such as cloth bags are worse for the environment than plastic. If people reused plastic bags, it would be much better for the environment that any alternative. Please look this stuff up before commenting. It will save us both time.

I admit that human pollution is the real problem, but I also know that cow farts and plastic straws are not our enemies. Just look at the messes left behind after the climate change protests this past Friday. You will be disgusted in how much these leftist really don't care about the environment themselves. They just want other people to fix the problems as long as they are not involved themselves. I won't even touch your comment about China. You can get out of here with that mess. Gun control - I don't get what you aren't getting about what I said. If you create laws that prevent honest citizens from getting guns, you keep them from being able to protect themselves. No matter how many laws are made, they will not stop criminals from getting any type of guns as that is what criminals do.
All those weapons you mentioned are already illegal to normal citizens, but you know who can get their hands on them? That's right - criminals. My problem is with the lefts/democrats inaction on the true problem which is the person behind the gun. It's also with the democrat's lying to their base that their ideas will somehow protect them and stop all killings because the big, bad AR-15 is the number one weapon of all white supremacists/mass shooters (same thing to them) that are killing everybody.

Legal immigration is fine as long as we vet all that come in to make sure they can stand on their own two feet, so they will not become a burden to society or have criminal backgrounds. We have enough of that with natural born citizens. If you work, buy your own food, clothes, etc and do not accept welfare payments, then welcome to the US. Hopefully, an illegal alien doesn't murder or rob you for what you worked hard to achieve. Thank Trump for the wall and his illegal alien policies as the number of crimes committed by illegals appear to be going down.

The title of my blog only mentions the left and democrats. Nowhere in the title did I mention, "and the republicans too". Not sure why you think I should include the Right when they are not the subject of this blog. I'm not here to debate or to discuss issues with the right. I'm open to comments of what people believe are good Democrat policies and good things the left are doing. So far still, only one person here has commented on any of that.
