Borderlands 3 boss rant...look for help.

Most bosses one shot Zane constantly and still do. I’m now stuck on the destroyer boss. Combat is incredibly slow during this boss fight. It feels like the boss is lagging his modem but but I’m the only on screen effected. Does the boss have some kind of permanent slowing ability without the normal cyro visual effect?

Zane is the only character without a big bad over powered pet, that’s why I choose him. But if I knew he was going to be a joke during every boss fight, I wouldn’t of bothered.

My other complaints?, there isn’t a single spot to get critical hits on the destroyer. It took half of all my ammo to get it’s health bar down to 3/4s left. I get that it is the final boss but it shouldn’t be this frustrating and super long of a fight.

When the boss downs you, the flying enemies are too far away and too fast to shoot, leaving me unable to get second wind. I went from 125k cash to 5k after several failed attempts. At least commons dropped from ads it killed and I can get some money back?

With how ridiculous the destroyer is. plus the constant hide and seek I had to do with boss fights, I don’t even want to play the additional play throughs. It isn’t even worth it. The main game got me to level 42. 8 levels away from max and Zane is still weak as Level 1.

I’ll be on my Xbox around 330pm EST today. If anyone wants to help me, my GT is in my profile. I’d appreciate it very much. If people want I’ll stream my POV with mixer. Feel free to do the same.

Your shield is shit if you're being 1shot. Use a bulkier shield. Has nothing to do with Zane. Your clone skills help a lot with survivability.

Destroyer is braindead easy. I don't even remember dodging any attacks really. I BELIEVE what you do is shoot it until it's knocked over, then you jump on it and have easy access to its weak spot for ages until it gets up. I didn't even discover that till the end of the fight though, I did enough damage that it didn't matter.

At level 42 you should be insanely overpowered. I was nowhere near that because I sped through. Zane is bonkers once he finishes his clone tree and the clone is literally mimicking your equipped weapon.

Is your build bad? I went with an ADHD run speed build for Zane and it's amazing. I literally just sprint around and shoot things for massive damage which counters him being squishy as you never get hit.

Of all the vault fights I think the Destroyer was actually the easiest.

I have 5k in shield. I don’t use his clone. The whole teleport when you use the clone sounds like it would leave me confused n unable to find my barings. I refuse to even try it.

I maxed out the shield n use it’s abilities to health n become a dome. I used like 3 points on the drone. Originally I was leveling the drone but once I reached the atlas planet at level 27, I was being over run by too many enemies n the drone couldn’t kill anything fast enough. So I respected and switched to the green skill tree.

You can’t be over leveled when bosses scale to your level on the initial meeting. The boss is leveled up to the same level as me. I could level I guess and max up Zane to level 50 and pray the destroyer doesn’t level up too since she is the finale boss.

I’m at level 42 cause I did nearly every side quest before moving on. I rarely don’t. Borderlands 3 even encourages it. You can get up to 4 different bonus rewards upon turning in a mission to Lilthe. One for beating a certain side quest before a boss. A certain side quest always unlocks after a boss, complete it before returning to S3 and that a second bonus. A 3rd for clearing all side quest available on a map before that map’s boss and a forth for clearing all on a planet before turning in the planet boss mission.

the bonuses are always one of 3 things. Cash, skins and a chance at a legendary equipment. If you don’t get a legend than you get an epic instead.

Switched to a different tracking shot gun sir hammer lock emailed me and I beat it in under 10 mins solo lol. What different a 100 points of damage does. Didn’t make effect the game much in bl2. But it does in 3 apparently.

You can be overlevelled in the sense that the main story doesn't scale to how powerful you become when you get to the end of a skill tree.

Most side quests could technically be ignored and done later since once you beat the game everything (including side quest rewards) scale to your level. Which is why I ignored all of them.

It sounds like you use the absolute worst tree Zane has. You really have to invest heavily into either the drone or clone tree since both of those can actually give you good damage. The clone tree is good general damage, drone tree is a lot of after-kills buffs. Third tree is honestly just trash. Clone is by far the best. Swapping really isn't that disorienting if you run at a stable FPS. I can't imagine playing Zane without it because the buffs you get for deploying and swapping with the clone are insane.

I avoided tracking guns all game till I realized how ridiculous they were for my run speed build. Can sprint full speed without ever having to aim...nice.

Without the shield tree, Zane doesn’t get health regeneration.

the base game lacks skill points compared to base bl2. A whole 10 levels lower, plus zero skill points until level 5. Although I heard that’s a glitch. we are supposed to get the first skill point at level 3. Did see they are considering giving an extra point at levels 25 and 50 in a future patch. so we’ll have 50 points in total until the level cap increase in the first dlc.
