when you think DON'T, that actually DO

Comments

@leon315 when the 16-bit console era in the 90s, SEGA and NINTENDO were rivals, in the picture above SEGA wrote that GENESIS (one of the SEGA series) could do what NINTENDO couldn't do. But things turned around 19 years later, SEGA portable consoles were not in great demand, instead NINTENDO portable consoles continued to skyrocket. The only way for the SEGA flagship game to survive is to create console versions for other platforms, including Sony PlayStation and Nintendo

@Pleng

The Game Gear was a really great Handheld Console.
Timely published perfectly....

- Double sale Price as the GameBoy on Release
- Battery Time according to the GameBoy - 5h (GameGear) to 12h (GameBoy)
- Comparative advertising in the US,which defamed the widespread and popular GameBoy as technically simple and its Users as simple-minded, baffled many potential Customers.
- many Software Titles.....most of them unfortunately developed for the GameBoy

.....as you see,a really selling Hit.

I had a game gear. It was an awesome machine. I'm not sure anyone ever really got 5 hours out of a set of batteries but I always played it plugged into a wall or a car charger so it was never an issue.

Hardware wise it was miles ahead of the Gameboy, as the Master System was to the NES.

I also happen to think the Game Gear's library was much better than the Gameboy's, but that's probably just because they were the games I grew up with...

The most I ever got out the game gear using batteries was just over 2 hours. I only ever played the wonderboy games and the shitty game gear sonics I much preferred my gameboy back then. Funnily enough I still have my gameboy tucked away somewhere in my house.

Gamegear sonic was baddass. The others not so much. I had Wonderboy too but didn't play it much. The Disney Illusion series of games were epic and the Game Gear had Road Rash...

The GameBoy had Zelda working in it's favour but not much else

Pleng seriously not much else lol. What about Pokémon or Tetris or Final Fantasy Adventure or the 3 Final Fantasy Legend games or the Castlevania games or Metroid 2 or the Mario/Wario Land games or Harvest moon or the Mega Man games or the awesome Donkey Kong 94 or finally the game that pushed the Gameboy to its limits
X.

An absolute tour-de-force of Game Boy technical prowess, X came to us from the same people who would deliver Star Fox a year later for Super NES. Obviously, running on a monochrome handheld with no enhancement chips leaves X technologically inferior to its 16-bit sibling, but the spirit is much the same. In some ways, X hints more toward Star Fox 2. Its fully 3D wireframe engine allows for free-range movement across a planetary surface rather than being restricted to rail-based motion, and there’s even a mission structure at work. It’s a bit rough, but this is a cart worth owning just to show to your friends as a fun party trick: True 3D action on Game Boy!

I LOVED my gamegear so much as a kid. Freakin color backlit screen. It might eat up every battery in the city, but man, games looked so nice compared to the GBC.

Fuck the Game Gear. Get on my level with the Sega Nomad, scrubs! Not only does it have more than two buttons, with the full six button set, but it also plays full on Sega Genesis games...in the 90's! Fuck the PSP, fuck the PSP Go, fuck the 3DS, fuck the Wii, fuck the Wii U, and fuck the Switch, the Nomad is where it was at!

Sega made a big mistake when it came to the portable systems. Instead of trying to compete directly on the same level as Nintendo? They tried to overthrow them. The GG was a colossal failure, even though it was stronger. Weaker battery life, bulkier, and came at a hefty, premium price point. Given the options of that, or a Nintendo product with Mario and Zelda? It's a no brainer. The GG had some good titles, but it suffered from Segas curse. Kind of like the Vita. In the fact that Sega and Sony both didn't care enough to give their respective platforms a fair and fighting chance.

Also, imagine thinking Zelda was the Gameboys killer title.

My friends childhood are SEGA fanboys, but he just bought GG for SEGA portables, he just try to keep collect SEGA consoles only. When first saw of SEGA MD things looks like cars dashboard with some big accessories for... better graphics? And yes, he play his GG at least until December last year (i never meet him eversince) ...

Me with my Nintendo collection even its broken on cube because of wrong voltage :rofl2: , i just hate Nintendo's VirtuaBoy and fortunately its not officially sold in my country :creep:.

Playing Sonic Series in NDSi feels like you just enjoy SEGA because its original game not the consoles, just like Mario by Nintendo :ha:, so evil lol...

But they know thats rivality doesnt gave them good things :

I'll give you Tetris...

or finally the game that pushed the Gameboy to its limits
X.

I'm not familiar with the game but I'm not interested something just because it pushes a system to it's limits.

@Pleng RTC is short of "Real Time Clock", in computer technology it called CMOS, its simply store current date and time, the clock is keep ticking even the power was turned off, some GameBoy family catridges, store RTC circuit in its own catridges (not in GameBoy machines) like Pokémon. In DS, this feature has been added to DS machines, so catridges doesn't need to add itself anymore, (im forget, but i think Nintendo also apply RTC on its consoles like GameCube and N64, for Wii its obviously applied)

@cimo95 I'm aware of what an RTC is. I just don't understand what it is you're trying to ask
