I will not buy anything from Epic Games anymore

I used to be supportive of epic games, until today. I haven't logged in to my account for a while and I hit a wrong password. After that's I got a captcha test, only to realize the captcha test is no longer clicking exercise, it's actually a mini game where you need click picture of a mouse inside of maze, and click the one that cannot reach the cheese:

EhEtY42UMAAvRFI

I need to repeat it 10 times, and seriously the render is so small, and I think sometimes, there is no correct answer.

I gave up on this one, and then I tried the audio captcha. It's pretty simple, a voice will say a bunch of number, and all you need is to write down the number. Except it doesn't work. I have entered numbers and letters, but the captcha test keeps saying I fail the test.

Which is too bad, as I just bought Control DLC, planning to download it so I could play it in the weekend.

I tried to contact epic games through email to complaint about this, and I GOT THAT FREAKING CAPTCHA TEST ON ITS WEBSITE.

I couldn't access my games, and I couldn't complain about it either. Epic could eat s--- from now on. F--- them. Steam may have a near-monopoly status but there is a reason it's the top player in the market. I lost my faith in Epic Games. I don't know how long I will be locked from my account, but I am pissed enough to consider deleting my account at some point.

You are kind of making it about the captcha by saying you are locked out of your account and can't use it. That's not really true. Just refresh until you get a different captcha. And I'm sure the maze isn't unsolvable. I've got some really shitty luck with Recaptcha a few times where I have to solve like 4 picture puzzles in a row, because the first 3 times apparently my answer wasn't good enough. But I eventually get past it. Kinda sucks that captchas have gotten so much more annoying in recent years though. And Epic Games is far from alone in this.

Yeah I wouldn't blame egs for this. It's the people that make the captchas. Either way though I wouldn't get too mad. They are supposed to be kinda hard to do just so they can't be autocompleted. On that note you can install a autocaptcha filler that can do most of them for you

I refreshed the maze captcha, it had time limit, and when I was about to click something, it said "not fast enough". It took me me 7 tries until I gave up and tried the voice captcha. The voice captcha gave me a bunch of random number with a noise background, which is actually simple, until I did 9 times and all my answers were all wrong. The captcha system was bugged!

You could laugh at me if it's my fault, but many people complained a similar situation.

To be fair, Epic never cared to make a good market nor even a good experience for users. They simply just wanted to take business away from everyone else.

protip for the checkbox captcha by google: it only sends you to the puzzle if it thinks your movements are robotic, so try to shake your hand a bit while reaching for the box, and do random figures after clicking on it, 90% of the time it works

@Azerus_Kun 90% of the time it works because 90% of internet users use the newest Google Chrome on Windows without any extensions, I almost always get it after already wasting enough time messing with my ublock rules to even let the stupid Google code run in my browser

@IC_ odd, i use firefox with 3 or 4 extensions (2 being adblockers)

Something even more evil than Satan invented Captchas.

be glad stuff like AOL didn't use captcha back in the 56k days on top of your credentials it that happened i'd toss my classic mac out the window (yeah I'm that old)

No. Don't blame the captcha. Blame the user for wrong passwords. Then blame the user for not being able to solve the captchas. I don't seem to have an issue solving them. Shrug.

wait until you got this nightmare yourself. but you don't have an epic account, so good for you.

@tigran
yeah it may be easy, but you need to think in 0.5 second, and even if you answer it correctly, your answer will still be counted as wrong.

Stop whining like a baby. You effed up. Not Epic or anyone else. If a captcha that YOU triggered and that YOU were unable to solve, because YOU entered your password incorrectly MULTIPLE times is going to make you so upset... might be best to just go off the grid. Start taking some accountability for your own actions, because at 48 years old I can 100% PROMISE you there are much worse things in life. As far as that Epic account I don't have and didn't TRY to force a captcha with for testing??? Did I not already tell you I had to enter my password incorrectly FIVE TIMES for me to even get the captcha?

I input my password incorrectly twice, and when I logged in, I got the captcha.

Yeah there are faaar more important things to worry in life, that's why let's not complain about bad customer service in internet because the company will resolve it and improve their service when customers are not complaining.

I get that maze captcha when claiming each free game. Probably b/c I'm using a VPN though. If there are 3 free games that is 3 sets of maze captchas for me.

Must say that the maze version is even more annoying than the one where you rotate the animals. There were a few that it was hard to tell if it was a wall or not, had to use the magnifying app to check. Plus, if you mess up 1 out of the 5 (or w/e amount, idr), then you have to do it all again with an extra one added onto the end!

Wasted several minutes of my life to claim games I will probably never play.

There ya go. Had a VPN not been used, probably wouldn't have happened. But if they didn't have them and someone hacked into your account... you'd then complain how they didn't have enough security to protect you. C'mon guys. Annoying? Sure. But each case here has been made even more annoying than need be due to incorrect passwords and VPN's. ;)

I mean, there are easier ways to check if you are the right person. Like 2FA or w/e. No need to check the same IP for 3 downloads from the same IP in 5 minutes. I've never encountered another store that has had such a pain in the ass captcha. Even those super slow "Click the traffic light" captchas are better than this maze version.

Not to mention I can buy games for much cheaper thanks to a VPN. Can't do that on steam without a risk of being banned. (Not that I buy most pc games anyways lol)

EGS hasn't once asked me for my password, it's logged into my laptop somehow. But with steam I have to use my password and do the 2FA if I'm using a different IP. That seems much more secure.

Idk but it seems like most other stores have a much better solution. And didn't most epic accounts get leaked already? Thats one of the reasons I'll never use real info on their servers.

It's not that big of a deal obviously, but there are obviously better ways to handle this.
