I will not buy anything from Epic Games anymore

I used to be supportive of epic games, until today. I haven't logged in to my account for a while and I hit a wrong password. After that's I got a captcha test, only to realize the captcha test is no longer clicking exercise, it's actually a mini game where you need click picture of a mouse inside of maze, and click the one that cannot reach the cheese:

EhEtY42UMAAvRFI

I need to repeat it 10 times, and seriously the render is so small, and I think sometimes, there is no correct answer.

I gave up on this one, and then I tried the audio captcha. It's pretty simple, a voice will say a bunch of number, and all you need is to write down the number. Except it doesn't work. I have entered numbers and letters, but the captcha test keeps saying I fail the test.

Which is too bad, as I just bought Control DLC, planning to download it so I could play it in the weekend.

I tried to contact epic games through email to complaint about this, and I GOT THAT FREAKING CAPTCHA TEST ON ITS WEBSITE.

I couldn't access my games, and I couldn't complain about it either. Epic could eat s--- from now on. F--- them. Steam may have a near-monopoly status but there is a reason it's the top player in the market. I lost my faith in Epic Games. I don't know how long I will be locked from my account, but I am pissed enough to consider deleting my account at some point.

epic are garbage anyway. hopefully they will be out of business soon soon google and apple took shitty fadnite off their stores and they have now lost 80% of their market!

@Bladexdsl That bandwagon still going at 1,000,000,000 mph? So fast that everyone onboard can never jump off, huh?

Life is just a really long captcha you got caught up in and forget. Once you get to the end you'll remember everything, but they wipe your mind so you can't cheat the system.

@TheCasualties what currencies does epic support? my main reason for using steam is that i can buy games with UYU, and prices are much lower than with USD, they are cheaper in ARS, but such minute savings are not worth the risk of ban

Epic does not support ARS for sure.
They have cheaper prices than normal in Argentina, as usual, but they ask for USD nonetheless.
I think it should be the same in Uruguay.

Here in Europe they ask for EUR, and their prices are consistently higher than Steam (in my experience).

Back to topic, yeah Epic and their captchas are driving me crazy too, PoS.

back when i still had epic installed i never bought anything, but saw prices be in line with american game prices, odd that they charge in USD in argentina tho, they have a 30% tax on buying USD, so maybe the cheaper prices are to compensate for said tax? pd: forgot to mention, it truly is amazing how much cheaper games are compared to america, i got fall guys for 429 UYU, that's little less than 10 dollars, for a 20 dollar game

Not just the taxes for sure. Some days ago I checked on a game with a friend, I think it was Borderlands Handsome Collection, it was 15 USD on his side (Argentina), and 60€ here on Epic.

And yeah, regarding Steam games in ARS (and UYU too I guess), they are crazy cheap.

Two words: Fuck Capchas...

I find myself doing the audio challenges more often than I really should... Simply because the image challenges don't always register for me. Now they've got multiple answers like this. Fuck that.

oh, thats actually a great deal, as for steam games, yeah, only case of a game being more expensive here i've come across would be nfs heat for 3000 uyu (66 usd) even then, its just 6 dollars more edit. lmao, i went to check mercado libre to compare the console versions, and there is this guy selling what's most likely a pirated copy (since the listing says no steam or origin required) for 1900

I could get HZD for 7.99 after using the voucher. after this incident, I will just buy my games on steam. cannot trust a company that asks you for a super complicated captcha when you want to submit a complaint.

I had a period of time ages ago that, no matter how many times I got shit done correct, I'd keep getting told I did them "wrong" and basically anything that was blocked behind a captcha was unaccessible to me.
So, yeah, fuck them captchas.

"Super complicated". :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:

Go buy your games on Steam and quit crying about it then. Hope you get locked out for an hour or more when you're feeling like it's the perfect time to sit down and game. Completely in the mood and in your zone for some gaming... and locked out cuz you effed up your password again. This entire EPIC = EVIL, STEAM = GOOD thing is a bunch of nonsense. I bet you're oblivious to PLENTY of Steams bad practices both currently and in the past. Far from the good guys people think they are.

@D34DL1N3R of course he can just go to steam, oh wait, he cant, because epic indulges in the very pro consumer practice that are exclusives (sacasm)

@Silent_Gunner oh, of course, but if we are talking about buying games, he's screwed

Braving the high seas may work kind of OK when you plan to take your booty to your lonely island and enjoy it in there; but the task becomes a hassle if you plan to sail across the storming seas of the whole world to play together with your buccaneer friends.

because of my stance with china i will never buy or support epic but the captcha is made by someone else that is not epic

Well, yeah, but Epic is the one that contracts them and uses their services, so in the end it's all Epic's fault not to use something better.

@sarkwalvein Good analogy! ;)

It depends on the game, though. For something like Doom and Doom Eternal, if I wanted to play the multiplayer that badly, I'd just go and play Quake Live and get my ass handed to me. I enjoy the singleplayer of Doom more than I do playing some sort of not-Quake where you can transform into demons sometimes (at least, that was the case with the multiplayer of the first one; IDK as much about the latter).

If it was something like CS:GO, then unless if you really just want to play with bots by yourself, you buy it on Steam, and its not exactly the most expensive game in the world with DLC packs to buy on top of it. I kind of like that Valve, even in this modern era, hasn't resorted to charging for extra DLC for the games that they make or they own the rights to afaik. Probably has something to do with the fact that they don't have stockholders jumping down their throats.
