Posts in my GBAtemp past that hurt me to the core of my soul

There was a time when I was making a "tool" called 3dsHaxTool. It was supposed to extract files onto your 3ds SD card so it would be ready for Homebrew, B9S or even A9LH (at the time). I go back to this every once in a while and cringe pretty hard but it was my first so called "project" and it did it's job. The way it was executed needed extreme levels of improvement. I can atleast see I've grown from then with the mistakes I can spot in the project itself. I have not contributed anything to the homebrew scene after a long time but maybe I should look into it again. The switch scene has certainly seemed to get a bit more toxic than the 3ds one did in the past but I really don't know. Tell me what you guys think. I'm curious what everyone else has to say. Stay safe in these times.

I think if you can find something you want to offer to the homebrew scene, or just want to create a tool for practice, then you should go for it. While it can be kinda hard to look back at past stuff, the good thing to it is that cringing at it means you've grown and learned from it

You are right. It seems easier, much easier just to read tutorials, then download your games. Once you get involved with a scene is when you see things that really piss you off and sometimes you even get hurt by it. It's happened to me actually.

The hardest part is I know a lot more now rather than in 2016-2017. It's just a matter of what should I use that knowledge to do.

put it to good use. when I was a kid, I wanted to be a teacher, so even now, I enjoy teaching people how to do things. I'm like the "teach a man how to fish" sort of person, because nowadays too many people expect you to do everything for them, then get upset when you don't.

I've thought about quitting after I've gotten really upset, but then I take a day or two to cool off. that's kinda my story in the scenes. there are certain things that happen that most people don't even know about. for me, I value my time, as anyone would, so the amount of time I invest into something should be equal to what anyone else invests. it shouldn't matter what that time is invested in, which in my case is often learning about how the system works rather than games (i.e. game mods and whatnot). however, people are disinterested in that most of the time and sometimes, perhaps unintentionally, are often more respectful towards people who do things they are interested in.
