Why are cats addicted to Sennheiser?

i can’t

take this

anymore.

I love my cats, I really do. But I’m questioning what and why and how and what.

For, you see, they have a bone to pick with Sennheiser.

Every time there’s a Sennheiser cord, their little kitten brains lock onto it. And they won’t stop until they have CONSUMED IT.

There is something in those cords. 99% of cats agree; they’re better than any other brand of headphone cable. I’ve gone through six of them. They’ve eaten all six of my replacement cables. Every single time. I’ve kept my latest one locked up in a drawer. But this time, my cat ate it as I was playing a game. I was petting the small idiot, and he didn’t look like he was going to do anything that would cause me a mental breakdown, but out of nowhere he lunged, and bit the cable in half in one motion.

Please, why. What does Sennheiser put in their cables? I’m so confused. Why is it always these specific cords? They don’t care about the third party cheap ones. It’s only and always the official cable that my cats have a vendetta against.

If left uninterrupted, they TRY TO EAT it. No other electronic cord causes this kind of reaction. Does Logitech NOT slather kitten crack all over their cords? WHAT is going on at Sennheiser?????

Both me cats have never chewed on any sort of cable.

You could wrap the cable in tin foil.
Can't say cats hate it cause the cat of me bf loves it but it might be your best bet.

It still amuses me they didn't touch a single cable in the entire house while I was there but the moment I left they went to town torturing you

Never had any of my cats chew through any cables, but one of my cats did take a piss on top of all of my LEGO instructions once :(

This is where I'd suggest putting the headphones somewhere they couldn't reach, or trying to be super clever with the cables themselves...but then I realized these are cats that we're talking about!

Mine used to like network cables (static things at that so not like a headphone wire dangling down off the desk).

I am however now curious if it is a type of dye, plastic, plastic blend or plasticiser common to such things.

I can relate... It's like anything they, is always something that you need or need calm to do things, and then the cat starts doing the stuff. But then, when you give them attention, they just ignore/sleep. They want to get attention when they WANT to get attention.

Get rid from the cats or buy wireless sennheiser headphones. Problem solved!

This is going to sound highly unusual, but get a lemon, lime, orange or all three, grate the skins into a pulp, squeeze some juice on-top, mix and cover that cable up until it smells citrusy, then wipe it down with a dry cloth. You can use extract too as long as it's the watery kind and not the oily kind. Cats *hate* that smell and will actively avoid the cable.

Probably because they were paid to eat those cables so that you are forced to use other options. An anti-Sennheiser campaign.

In that case get cable wraps - they make stretchy cloth ones by the foot on the old fleabay, should deter them.

Some 80+ foster kittens later and my own two cats. I see two options that will work.

Option 1: use a pet corrector, it's Co2 in a can. Spray it when you see them starting to eat the cord. With a little time they will associate that sound with the cord. My cat Trogdor just has to see the can come out now and he stops doing whatever it is he knows not to be doing.

Option 2: check with your local pet store and see what they have for deterrent / repellent sprays. Spray into a paper towel and wet the cord down a few times. Cats do a large portion of smell through their mouths, citrus/Tabasco is very hit and miss as it is edible and for all you know you could have a cat that loves the smell and therefore taste of it (regardless of if they should or not)

I agree with Banjo here. You have to take the Sennheiser cord and eat it in front your cats. Make sure they're looking as you devour them. The emotional trauma will be too much for your cats, and they will never eat a Sennheiser cord again.

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
