$10 Japanese console, minty as hell!

Bought this as is, thing looks gorgeous cosmetically, still warranty sealed with nothing replaced - I ended up spending a bit on shipping though less than any domestic or import I could find on eBay, so it works out.

It's been awhile since it's gotten played

(spoiler: nope this guy was updated, not why I bought this thing but regardless...)

Gonna be a fun project - need to crack this open but very carefully, I'm not kidding it's easily the best looking phat I've seen in person since my original retail so I'm gonna try not to break the plastic when I try to keep this thing quiet (admittedly it's rather quiet for a Xenon to begin with)

PC wasn't liking this at all - spent hours getting a old desktop out but it's flashed and working now. Hitachi flashing is... strange.

Haven't swapped thermals yet.

Fans are quiet and the board was super clean - will get it down to the board to keep it cool, I'm under the assumption this had very minimal use but while getting a replacement Xbox 360 is cheap, getting a NTSC J system isn't, and my god I don't want to flash another 360 if I don't need to unless somebody gives me a USB pro... getting the firmware itself was a bit unfortunate in terms of how hard I needed to look.

Working great so far. DVD drive is spinning down occasionally which isn't good but not that a huge problem in worst case.

As for blades - it was cool to see them for the first time from original NAND since 2009 but honestly, it would be a UI hell with the amount of things the Xbox One can manage now - not to mention, it absolutely is a mid 2000s fever dream.

Why I'm replying for real, got some MX-4 and ready to swap the thermal paste, I just want to know the best method to remove the GPU/CPU heatsink since every single one involves getting SUPER close to the motherboard and I really don't want to destroy this thing. Again, it's a Xenon but not exactly one I can replace/would want to go to the effort to replace given the price and shipping.

I thought about swapping thermal pads on the RAM however I feel like it's uncommon for that to die on every model, finally this is obvious (right?) I should be avoiding the DVD drive other than game installs to keep the heat down? Thing is getting very hot in a cool room after a few hours and that's just asking for it.

I always pry the xclamps off with a screwdriver.
If done carefully, you wouldn't even hit the mainboard.

It probably makes it compatible with fewer games, but you should definitely stay offline to keep the blades UI forever.

still works, probably over 100 hours power on since i've got it. i give 10/10.

i highly recommend you don't try this since a xenon working for 100 hours is probably halfway impossible

You should look at ensuring this console lasts! Based on the video, it must be one of the OG launch models. Those aren't exactly what I'd call common! I know back when one of my older brothers basically gamed exclusively on the 360, he had to send it in for "repairs" (and by repairs, I mean replacing the console with another one after a HDD swap) at least five different times.
