My outlandish theory about what will happen in April.

So, tomorrow Mario 3D Allstars will stop being produced by Nintendo.

My crazy idea is on April 3rd, Nintendo will announce a Nintendo direct for April 4th and in that direct, they will announce N64 being added to NSO and certain gamecube titles will be resold on the eShop for like 10-15 dollars.

A crazy idea, but I might be right and I will freak out if I am.

Sounds like a good idea!

So no way Nintendo actually does it.

This reminds me of the 3DS ambassador program and how people expected them to eventually sell GBA VC games.

@Scott_pilgrim Destroy it before it's too late. The game is possessed by Nintendo ninja anti-consumer parasite thing.

At best, I think they have a Zelda Direct coming soon after Mario's 35th properly comes to an end, so they can properly then shift to celebrating Zelda's 35th and what all that will entail.

@Lightyose I don't think there is any set rule in regard to when they can and can't celebrate anything, though I do think they were waiting for Mario's celebration to properly come to an end before entertaining any other such celebrations. They may indeed be celebrating Zelda later this year, but that doesn't mean they couldn't still have a Direct sooner to showcase what we'll be seeing later in the year, especially if they have multiple releases in the works. We know Skyward Sword HD and BOTW 2 are coming, but I would not be shocked if more Zelda content is also on the way. It's not hard to imagine Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD from the Wii U making it to the Switch (either together or separately), nor would it be hard to imagine Grezzo taking their Link's Awakening remake engine and making Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons remakes for the Switch as well (again either together or separately).

If there are upwards of that many Zelda projects in the works for the coming year, then it would certainly make sense to have a Zelda Direct earlier in the year than later if you ask me.

Yeah, what I meant was "usually". But I believe E3 is a good candidate for bigger announcements. It could happen. Let's see how this goes. (Also, I wonder what merchandise for My Nintendo would be available for the anniversary...) Hmm.

Uhh...is anyone else wondering when we'll see more than just a fan picture of a Metroid Prime 4 logo for the game?

@Silent_Gunner not really, after they told us they restarted development with a different dev, coupled with Covid and all the delays that brought to everything, and I still think we're probably about 2 years away from MP4.

@MikaDubbz At that point, it may as well be coming out for the Switch 2 exclusively, or whatever it is that Nintendo is following up the Switch with. It'd be a good game to launch with the system, along with BOTW2.

I honestly think the Switch is at the point in its life where the games coming out, unless it's something specific like Astral Chain, aren't making me explode with hype atm. It's become a porting machine for games that have been released on every platform under the sun, or games that a lot of people (though not all, I admit; I got an older brother of mine the Bioshock trilogy for the Switch as it was on sale and I know he always wanted to play the series) have already played years ago. It can be nice to be able to play it on the go, but in 2021, when I can order a laptop from System76 that could play everything up to the PS3 and probably the Switch itself even on Linux and possibly have more battery life, the Switch kind of ends up coming off as that system that was hip to have in the late 2010's, but now, especially with COVID (which isn't Nintendo's fault; I mean, tell someone in 2017 that we were going to be locked down for the most part in the US), the Switch's main selling point has been rendered moot, if it's form factor didn't do it any favors when it comes to portability compared to a 3DS, GBA SP, PSP Go, or even the PS Vita of all things.

@Silent_Gunner yeah I wouldn't be shocked if the game moves from the Switch to its successor, or I could see it just playing better on the successor (like 4K output when docked or whatever) if they optimized it to still run perfectly fine on the original Switch. Could see the BOTW sequel get that same treatment, but I'm fairly certain that one is coming out this year, quite possibly before the upgraded Switch is released.

That Dell data breach is worse than people probably realize....
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
When I worked for Dell we had access to data about military contracts and addresses for high ranking people.

I personally handled a call from the second highest person at Raytheon. That call bothered me a lot... The guy was nice and smart what bothered me was the way management basically just blew him off instead of going the extra mile to help him.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
In the end that call ended up costing Dell millions in lost contracts with Raytheon, and really the issue could have been solved for like 450 bucks lol
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
sometimes I wonder why anyone would ever buy mega man x legacy collection 2
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I always thought that capcom shuffled the games in these collection, but apparently they are all in chronological order, which makes legacy collection 2 worthless
