I found an abandoned pants ipod

So, my mom likes to shop at goodwill. She buys random stuff from time to time, and yesterday, she bought some jeans. I was restless and couldn't sleep, so I decided to do some chores and tire myself out. When I was putting the laundry, and those jeans in the wash, I noticed there was something in the jeans pocket. A lighter? A quarter? No.

It was an ipod.

One of those little baby ipods, a Shuffle. Tiny little thing, hilariously shoved in some random pants to be forgotten about and donated. So I took it out, luckily had a cable for it, and plugged it into my Mac.

The ipod has a capacity of 1GB, first of all, legitimately amazingly funny to me.

Then I see the ipod is crammed to absolute capacity, with music all bought from the apple store. Van Halen, Gwen Stefani, Tom Petty, Selena Gomez. Totally random.

So now I just have a little baby ipod. Pocket ipod. Pants ipod. Last synced in 2013.

Has it been in those pockets for nearly a decade?

I'm cracking up. Maybe it's because it's 3am but I can't stop laughing at the pantspod.

I do kinda wonder if the previous owner shoved it in the jeans pocket on purpose to give the next owner a nice free iPod

and now that 8 years have passed iPods are nearly next to useless thanks to music streaming services

Saved music > streaming services
You don't have to depend on the music being available on the service, and there's no need for an active internet connection, nor a subscription.
Needing a bunch of space is, of course, a downside, but my 2400+ MP3 files take up less than 15 GB.

I'll never give up my FLAC files for inferior music streaming. Imagine needing an internet connection AND paying for a streaming service, just to listen to music. :rofl2:Like, get bent.

Fantastic find, I love your PantsPod. :yaysp:

welcome to gbatemp where you get beaten the shit out of for saying the word streaming

Jokes aside, yeah I do agree.
Fitting thousands of music files onto an 16GB SD card you got for 6 quid is better than always having to have an internet connection and paying money for it every month

now let's continue talking about the pantspod i like the silver color

This is amazing! I love those tiny iPod Shuffles. I never owned one but know people that still do. :)

I still have my iPod Nano (3rd Gen) working perfectly. Its capacity is 8GB though!

Absolutely amazing find, even more since it looks like it still works :rofl2:
These tiny players are perfect for doing work and walk outside, and not worry about smashing your phone or more expensive devices somewhere, so maybe that one will serve well? :D

Does it still hold a charge?
Also, does this mean whoever gave that to goodwill didn't even bother to wash the pants first? Disgusting.

I hate ordering stuff online if I can go buy it somewhere close to me, and everywhere anymore will give you a discount only if you order it online, bs. Should be a discount if I go pick it up, not order online.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I love it for most things most stores you just shows the receipt online and they scan it

Makes it easy for incompetent restaurant staff that don't know how to hear an order
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Mostly for big purchases, I want it in my hands before I pay. Like a tv, I trust picking it up myself, before I'd trust it being sent thru mail/delivery. (Broken screen, etc) But yea if I can order online, then pickup at store is ok, but not all places offer that.

Thing is, if you break it driving back to your house, it's your fault. But if the delivery driver damages it, it's not your fault.

Most people that haul big tvs have empty trucks or know enough not to set it face down
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Then I gotta send it back and wait another week or two. I have a pickup truck, with a extended cab, so no prob for me.
