the 2010s are bad and here's why

2010 to 2013 was decent i guess but ever since then it's legitimately been a garbagefest. Microtransactions and DLC infest previously decent games as creativity and innovation slowly die out in exchange for corporate greed. why the fuck would you want to put your own unique spin on anything when what works sells? Late stage capitalism kicked in as game developers and corporations started selling worse and worse products and get rewarded for less and less effort. The only good games from this decade are the countless rereleases of older ones because companies have gone wild with them due to being massive lazy dipshits who don't want to put in the effort of making an actually worthwhile new game, so they nostalgia bait and give you the old shit youve played again over and over with an HD upscale and better textures.

Microsoft made windows 10 which at best is a decent windows OS and then immediately said they're going to stop making new windows OSes and only update 10. thanks alot micro$hit. Remember the days of XP and 7 where you actually had hardware acceleration and the OS had an appealing fun looking aesthetic? when EAX was a thing in PC games and actually made them sound super good? Nah, let's shit all over that, we have cloud streaming now! what, we need an actually good looking theme for an OS? why do that when we can just plaster flat colors and bland text over everything?
.
Teen Titans Go tarnished the cartoon industry and led to a slew of shitty reboots that all set out to trash on their cartoon originals. We've seen a shift from the serialized action focused cartoons of the 2000s and late 90s to comedy shows for retarded kiddywinks being babysat by their tablets because their retard parents are too busy typing on twitter about how all cis white males are scum and how white men are the worst thing to graze the earth, and how they're so much better for divorcing their husband, taking half his stuff and getting money from him every month. the good shit like gravity falls, adventure time, TAWOG, Star VS and Steven universe all suffered immense seasonal rot or just died later on in the decade.

Streaming Services started growing as an industry as more and more companies get tired of just limiting their shit to netflix and want some of the streaming pie too, so now you literally have to keep a subscription to like 50 fucking different streaming services just to get the shit you want. Trump got elected and nearly drove the already collapsing country down a fucking cliff.
People say 2020 sucked because of covid when really it was a 2019 issue that bled into 2020.
the music industry has also gotten fucked too, with all of the good shit being replaced by crappy pop or more of that shitty fucking rap. i swear to god if i hear another rap song i am going to lose my fucking mind. it's everywhere.

We live in a society where we have more subway stores in america than there are hospitals.
i hate this decade and everything it stands for. the 2020s look to be more of the same too. it's hard to keep going on when literally everything around you is turning into absolute garbage. we are being thrust into a corporate run dystopia and literally no one sees any of the signs, and if they do they have 0 problem with it. its sickening

Meh... if we talk in videogame experiences, I guess I had the best decade at the moment.
Of course I did not experienced my first time playing a console, or beating a game with my brother as I used to, but I played almost everything I wanted at one time or another, I got consoles I desired as a kid and I couldn't get 'cause money, I learned a lot about the scene and how this little machines work.

Now... talking on a personal perspective. Yeah, it definitely was shit, but I guess it's because I grew up.
I'm gonna be 22 this July, I'm in college and have the inevitable laboral world just around the corner (although I've worked in the past) and I'm relatively an adult now... or an adult in formation.
I dunno tbh.

Also, I love Subway breakfasts. Bacon & Egg footlong, Italian Herbs & Cheese bread, toasted, with Old English cheese and avocado, and (preferably) Thousand Island sauce or Ranch sauce? Delicious.
I wouldn't go there after brekkie, though, since their other menu items are unappealing. If there was nothing much else around, though, I'd make a custom sandwich.

Oh, and as for post-2013 games that didn't suck ass and were actually fantastic, how about Marvel's Spider-Man? Ghost of Tsushima? Persona 5 and P5 Royal? Luigi's Mansion 3? Xenoblade Chronicles 2?
Sure, Spider-Man's DLC isn't the best, but if only the base game is purchased it's utterly brilliant.

I would argue that the 2010’s are just when all this stuff hit the fan. Teen Titans, for example, was produced by Bardel Entertainment who has been an animation factory for years.

DLC was just where gaming was going online and it isn’t always the worst thing. Some devs legitimately use DLC as a way to add more ideas to the game that they didn’t have time to work on during development which is great for the actual dev teams. Streaming services are the natural progression of the Television industry for a lot of reasons. Innovation and creativity from bigger studios may have gone down, but the 2010’s were the most progressive years for indies.

I understand NPCing “Capitalism bad” is what this post was really about, but those are my thoughts.

Oh, and how about Ben 10? Man of Action, and Cartoon Network I believe, were losing popularity with Omniverse, so they decided to reboot the series instead of continuing Ben's adventures. However, they scrapped almost everything that made the classic series so fantastic and loved, and made each episode ~10 min long instead of ~20 or so (half an hour with ads thrown in), allowing for less character and narrative development.

While I was initially put off by Omniverse's drastic art style shift, I now quite enjoy most of it; I will never touch the bloody reboot.

And Windows...Live Tiles need to die, File Explorer needs native tab support (Finder has had tabs for years now; what's Gates' excuse?), and OneDrive needs to stop making itself the default Documents and <username> folders instead of the local Documents and <username> folders. Fuck you, Windows.

Indies shouldn't be a substitute for when big budget triple A productions were actually worth buying. They're supposed to accompany them like how it worked in the early 2010s. Games like Super Meat Boy and Call of Duty should be able to co exist and both be really good, not just force you to only play one because the other has become complete garbage.

also, the fact you could only list 5 FUCKING GAMES post 2013 that were anything above mediocre just shows how far the gaming industry has fallen through out this entire fucking decade. if i wrote a list of games from the 2000s and 90s that were above mediocre we'd be here all day- many games on the list would also be genre defining masterpieces that made many of the great genres you played today, like how Super Metroid and Castlevania Birthed the Metroidvania genre which in of itself has literally birthed many masterpieces like Hollow Knight (one of the few good games from this decade) and Cave Story (you can tell i like this game from my PFP)

Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice were both pretty good visual novel games, and Virtue's Last Reward might as well have been released in 2017 (it was released in 2013 for the ill-fated Vita and 3DS, except PAL 3DS copies lacked English VA for some stupid reason, making it functionally unplayable - that last part might be subjective, though).

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a great game; I wish it had the traditional All-Star Mode and Classic Mode, though, and Poke Floats. And that the character roster had a few...cuts.

Kirby Star Allies and Planet Robobot were both fantastic games...and the only two Kirby games I've ever finished, but they're still fantastic.

Why would you say it sucks cock as a derogatory term. If you are a boy you surely like to get sucked, and you wouldn't insult who is sucking, would you? that could be your gf/bf. Otherwise, if you like to suck you wouldn't like to be offended for it. Right?

We all go through patches of our lives where everything is shit and then there will be times when you look back and go "well maybe they weren't quite as shit as I remember"
DLC was an inevitability they had been attempting it for years with "add-on discs" for the pc and disc-based consoles (e.g. Grand Theft Auto 1969 was published as an addon to GTA it wasn't till a little later it got a stand-alone release, and so was Microtransactions after the success of smartphone apps. Is the video game industry as a whole toxic as all hell,

There are certain versions of windows which perhaps deserve some hate, but generally, Windows 10 isn't one of them, especially after 8 and 8.1 Microsoft bet big and lot hard on the mobile touch interface computer market and lost and that's why the switch back to ye old desktop environment and you're also mad at Microsoft giving you free updates for the life of Windows 10? New features and ways to work with windows every season for free? You can still customise it just the way you want you just have to use a couple of FREE third party programs and you are away. Be thankful you aren't on Mac where they will charge you for the beta and then charge you again for the full version.

You really can't get mad at Netflix they started a revolution when it came to streaming that everyone reaps the benefit from. Which would you rather do, stream a movie instantly or make a list of the movies you want to see and wait to see if your next DVD that comes via the mail is one you'd actually want to watch and not something your GF/family ordered. The problem with streaming is the same problem we have with the game market places, it became fractured. Too many people wanted a piece of what Netflix and Steam had and we are the ones that pay for it. But you can't blame Netflix you have to blame Hulu and Disney (I let Prime Video slide because they were around about the same time as Netflix as LoveFilm ). Piracy for both movies and games dropped significantly during the years when there were fewer platforms to buy games/stream movies. Why? because people will go for the simplest solution now if you want to know if they have a movie you pretty much need a spreadsheet to work it out

As for the music industry... they are just giving people what that want, homogenised generic crap that leaves everyone going who was that singing ? was it a band?

As for the American health care system well its been a joke to call it a system ever, When you can justify making people over $750 for one insulin pen its just a bad joke that got an unfunny punch line

At the very end of the day tho, life is what you make it. I could sit here and say I wished that the last 5 years of my life didn't exist. When every waking moment is absolute agony, you find the small things in life that you are grateful for. If I had been in perfect health I would have never started writing blogs here and I wouldn't have met The nicest guy in the world bar none.

If you don't like something do something about it. Don't just sit there moaning about how things should be, do something about it. Your profile says you're 15 that is so fantastic you don't even realise it yet and by the time you do, you will have missed your chance. Don't just sit there do something about the things you hate in the world. Don't like the customisations in windows? learn to code and make your own shell. Don't like the music? Learn to play an instrument, start a band and make your own! You have so many choices to make the world a better place you never know what you can do until you do it

Of course there are more Subways than hospitals. Hospitals are absurdly expensive to build, equip and staff. The machinery is expensive, the special cleaning products are expensive, everything is expensive. Meanwhile, you can open a Subway with a 100m² storefront, two hobos and a pre-built kitchen set.

To address your larger point, ever since mankind first learned to talk, we've been using that skill to complain about how the world is going to shit. In fact, people literally believed that the world was about to end in their generation or the next for most of recorded history, and some still do. See doomsday cults.

The reality is that people are dying less and less of diseases, we're producing more and more food and more people have access to clean drinking water today than at any other point in human history. Proportionally, we have never had so few illiterates on the planet, and our hospitals-to-people ratio is also the best it has ever been. If cartoons and popular music getting worse is the trade-off, I think most people would agree to that trade in a heartbeat.

Don't focus on the trivial and negative aspects of the times we live in. Focus on what's really important and prioritize what's good and what you can do to make it even better. That's walking the path to a better future.

I never said that Netflix was a bad service, i never even blamed the service itself
I said that too many companies are getting greedy and aren't satisfied with netflix itself so they make their own streaming services that have their own subscription prices and content. If it were me it would have been how it was in the late 2000s and early 2010s where all programs were on netflix and it was the only thing you had to subscribe to in order to watch the shows you want.
and i guess i'd be grateful for Windows giving us free 10 updates for the rest of its lifespan but i'm still not satisfied. I'd rather have them bring back the themes from windows 7. because the themes we have now are literally a wallpaper change. how about bringing back hardware acceleration for frontends like OpenGL and Midi? the main reason Midi sounds like ass now is because it's software emulated as opposed to when it was hardware like with XP.

MIDI in ... what, exactly? MIDI frequently sounded like crap, which is probably why most games don't use it anymore. If you're talking about ancient Windows and DOS games, then do you really expect old standards to be supported flawlessly until the end of time? You can use something like PCem and get an experience that's practically indistinguishable from what you might have gotten with original hardware.
