The Insanity of Mozilla

Let me explain
Ok, I trusted Firefox for years until now. I read an article about how the amount of Edge users were increasing but Firefox dropping. I was clueless at first why, however, I think I understand now.
Hidden Trackers
Let's start from the beginning. Firefox claims to be a private web browser. That is the biggest lie Mozilla has ever told. The only way you'd really know if you were being tracked is by looking at their privacy policy. They have built-in cookies, trackers that they send to Google. Imagine pretending to be a privacy worshiping company and doing that. It's really just a messed up move. They were hiding the deadly truth from us. They also have sponsored news in the Startpage which I honestly don't mind because what if Rap Star Big Wii Ner dies, for example, I'll need to know that stuff. However, they look at your search results to decide what news they'll show you
Profit Of Google
95% of Mozilla's profits are from Google. What does this mean? It means Google has a knife on Mozilla's throat and can slash it anytime. Google pays millions so Firefox makes Google the default search engine. However, if they stopped Mozilla would die. Couldn't Mozilla use Bing, another paying search engine? They could, but Bing has gimmicks to make people use Edge. That means Google can and will kill Firefox when there really ready.
Workforce?
In January 2020, Mozilla laid off 75 employees (rumor) Then in June 2020, 250 workers were laid off. (confirmed) Keep in mind Mozilla only has about a 1000 workers. Why though? Some blame it on COVID, but wouldn't covid cause more employees since everyone is browsing the web in quarantine? It's because their dirty CEO wanted to secure their paycheck and the amount of Firefox users dropped. Remember Mozilla is supposed to be a NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION.
Politics?
Mozilla made a biased bog towards the capital march in January. They want to get rid of any unpopular opinions they dislike or disagree with. Their goal was to "Make an open web" however, they've made the web evil.

"x65943 aren't most browsers nowadays clones of chrome?"

Yes and take a look at how those browsers are doing

I don't blame them. They're doing what they have to in order to survive. It's still the best browser around in many aspects. But I am a bit worried Mozilla are going to fizzle out because they aren't making enough money to stay afloat and people will have no choice but to use another browser. You can't depend on the open source community to keep it updated, look at how outdated stuff like Pale Moon and Waterfox are. It's a huge undertaking maintaining an entire web browser, and people who are working for free simply don't have the time because they need real jobs in order to afford food and housing.

Is pale moon outdated? Seems pretty up to scratch for me. Most differences then being choices on direction taken that they did not agree with firefox's approach to. Though I would like per tab processes.
That said if mozilla went pop then I do believe pale moon get quite a lot of things downstream from them (don't want to say they are an integrator but it is an argument I could stand to hear) still so there is that to consider.

I want Mozilla to do well and be a stable organisation so much, they're in a struggle for sure.
The points here really aren't the end of the world-level, Mozilla's controversies aren't even close to what Google is like. I want more people to support Mozilla if anything.

One word (really it's two words merged into one but I feel I should clarify that): Waterfox

It's Firefox without the BS. There are more privacy-focused FF offshoots if you look around.

@FAST6191 It's still based on an ancient Firefox version that they have done very little to besides some small security fixes and tweaks here and there and it lags more and more behind other browsers with every passing day. That's not good enough.

Correct me if i'm wrong (don't know much about topic)but isn't firefox open source code? can there still be hidden trackers for google? and if there are, what proof do we have? video only mentions about censorship (which i also don't agree with), but nothing about hidden trackers. and as for google paying firefox to be default search engine, i think it's alright as long as users can change it to whatever they want.

They are open source. However, by hidden I mean for the average consumer who does know how to look at programming and doesn't notice the privacy policy. Making it basically hidden

And just because something is open source doesn't mean that you know what build options were used and what exactly is in the official build that you downloaded from their website or received with an automatic update.

Chilling in the Brave browser until a thread like this crops up telling me how bad they are.

Minor correction: Waterfox and Librewolf are forks, not clones.
@Memoir Brave is a decent choice, however if you really want to get into the nitty gritty then it is still based on chromium, the open source branch of chrome. While Brave does (AFAIK) take out google trackers and replace them with their BAT program, this still leaves you open to the myriad of security vulnerabilities that are found in chrome all the time. There is something to be said for the option of "security through obscurity" when it comes to browser choice, because while firefox may have just as many exploits as chrome, they aren't researched or targeted nearly as often as chrome's exploits are.

@N10A Security through obscurity is more purposely locking something down, making it proprietary and closed source and hoping it will deter hackers. And it never does. It's just pointless.

@The Real Jdbye Yes, you are right. If you read my post I am making the argument however that a less popular browser is less likely to be exploited by attacks directed in a non discriminatory manner. If someone is trying to exploit as many targets as possible, he will target chrome users, not firefox users. Just a case of me using a phrase that doesn't make sense in the current context, I apologize for the confusion.

it amuses me when people speak of something like privacy concerns with say... Firefox. But the same person most likely uses a Windows PC, a smart phone, a Facebook account, etc.

I just recently picked up a n64 from a garage sell, and looking to mod it and add a HDMI port to it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3548173115...044&customid=4f3038da73b61afddf7e5e90f4153856

I'd like to find a power strip and HDMI selector built in 1 unit, so I can select which game system I want, and will switch to that hdmi, and power on that plug/power supply only, so don't have all game systems powered all the time, but can't find anything like. May just have to make something myself.

Maybe start a kick starter page and sell them, yea right. Big N would prob C&D me, not anything Big N related, but just because that's what they do nowdays.
