About beating all my games...

I’ve been thinking again about working on my backlog
Then I realized...
I don’t even
Like beating games-
Beating a game I love for the first time always depresses me because it’s the end- and now I’ll always know how temporary it is- sitting there watching the credits makes me feel empty- not satisfied

I always stress about beating games... but it just occurred to me that it might be better to not beat most of them at all, and just leave it in a spot where I have a good memory of it and I’m satisfied with what I’ve done

But that also bothers me
Simply because to attain games, money has to be spent. So if I’m only paying for a part of a game and the rest is unused forever...
But getting games for free doesn’t make me feel as peachy as enjoying a game I paid for

I think it was SicklyBoy who said they just play games until they don’t enjoy it anymore, rather than beating them. Since then, I started following that- and gaming has been a way different experience overall for the better! If you’re reading this, thanks for that x3

Ah well...
That’s all I have for tonight
Gooood night children

I feel like I've peaked in my game experiences and it makes me hesitant to find more. I love games with deep, emotional stories but after playing The World Ends With You, Kingdom Hearts, Tales of Berseria... The only things I've even been pushing through are Golden Sun and Persona but I'm reluctant to dive into them far enough for them to suck me in

People enjoy art in different ways. I personally couldn't leave a game unfinished if I enjoyed it, but I mostly play narrative driven games. I personally like moving on from a game that I really like, because that let's me compare the 2 games.

Art isn't subjective, but the enjoyment of different arts is.

I have to finish everything I play (assuming I enjoy it) otherwise it just feels like a lot of wasted effort. It's like gamer blue balls.

yeah, i just play a game until i get bored of it. most games i've beaten took either like a week, because i played it constantly, or years because i played it like once every few months lol.

I agree. I have a huge backlog of games. also, I don't pirate on the switch, but I've pirated on many other systems. however, I don't play any games I pirate. there's just no obligation to do so, and it's never quite as enjoyable as playing a game I paid for. I can't even remember the last game I pirated that I beat. it's probably been 10+ years. the only two pirated games I play are dkc returns and nsmb wii. I never beat them, just see how fast I can get to 99 lives, which I really enjoy. ;)
