Why playing Pokemon is way better sped up

Me and my best friend have been playing Pokemon Fire Red and Emerald lately, and we play them on an emulator. One interesting thing we noticed is that the games are far more enjoyable and overall better when you play them sped up. I play usually at 4x speed, but sometimes 5 or 6. Levelling up is a long, grueling, tedious process normally, but when sped up, the game is actually much more fun. Battles go by quicker, your time is less wasted, and basically everything boring is removed from the game!
I actually love Pokemon Emerald now, but ONLY when sped up.
So, next time you are falling asleep and barely progressing through a Pokemon game, just turn up the speed!

Makes sense, this is a good tip for a lot of older RPGs as well. Back in the day developers just assumed people had very small game libraries, and that usually was the case. So the grind was a feature that was welcomed, instead of derided for wasting the player's time.

Yeah, I only play with Fast Forward on older Pokémon games. It's just... Now feels the normal way to go for me.

If you always play at a faster speed then you can't listen to the music. Personally, I like to use the "turbo" feature that is on most emulators (that I use) so I can speed it up only where necessary. You can also turn off battle animations in Pokémon games with that feature.

Tip for the music thing:

A lot of better know games have cheat codes that straight up disable all in game music
...
If you still want the sped up sound effects

Anyways I’ve never even thought of this. Imma try it for sure- actually I’m on my first emerald play through right now

My brother got to 100+ hours on his Pokemon save in three days thanks to this method. There's no better way to play

Huh, I'll have to try this. I played through most of the Pokemon games when I was younger, but haven't revisited anything before gen 5 in a few years just because of how sluggish the pace is, but I've been getting pretty nostalgic for gen 2..
