Like, actual flyig, Up, down, left and right. But no, instead we got the boring gliding mechanic again.
Its so much wasted potential to not let us properly fly with our Pokemon. We could have battles in the sky with other flying pokemon, there could be challenges we could do like getting from point a to point b the fastest or through checkpoints. We could let our flying pokemon out and fly together around (especially fun with 4 player coop i guess) and reach things that are otherwise not reachable.
I am already happy with the fact that its a true open world and they fixed so many things that we had issues with in the last game. This game has issues too but since its not even out yet and another patch might release anytime before it, im not gonna bash on them yet.
However the gliding you get from doing certain missions is just awful and not fast whatsoever. It drops you out of the air after a glide time of about 7 seconds or so. Its not fun at all.
I wish i could ride/fly other pokemon with flying type, like charizard, dragoran, corviknight, pidgeot, salamence, aerodactyl and so on (provided they are/would be ingame)
