Now that I have your attention—that was easy; I want to make an inquiry.
Why does it seem like that so many threads propping up, promoting “LGBT” affiliation seem to go like this:
1. Strong advocates of the subject agree with each other on the obscurely defined discrimination they face.
2. People who don’t associate challenge them.
3. Bickering and passive-aggressiveness overtakes the tone.
4. Thread gets locked.
5. The advocates of the thread celebrate.
Doesn’t it seem pointless? It’s like shameless plugging? Do advocates of a flag, label, a feeling of being oppressed want to be understood, or do they just want to assert that they are right?
If by starting a thread, such as “your opinions”, you already know that you aren’t interested in opinions; then what was the worth of it?
To me, it doesn’t seem to be really beneficial to anyone. In the end, it’s just advertising and further proof of disingenuous pretense.
If you associate with “LBGT”, that’s okay with me. It’s your choice if you desire to compartmentalize yourself. I’m probably a lot more “LBGT” than some of the people I like to argue with. I just don’t see the value of the banner, and associating with people who I know are disreputable just because our sexual hooks might overlap.
