i just realised that americans are self-centred ignorant idiots, who dont realise that when they steal a language and change words, that doesn't mean the original language is wrong. The language is called ENGLISH for a reason.

That is why it is called "American English" -- defined as English as used in the United States. Proper English if you will, is referred to as "British English". As much as I think Wikipedia is not a particularly good resource for anything, there's a pretty long article here that describes in detail the differences between the two. In some ways they are so different they might as well be separate languages!

At any rate, just because words are spelled differently here and there is no reason to get your knickers in a twist.
