Reading...

Well, I recently signed up with a website called "Paperback Swap" and there I can get rid of books that I don't want anymore and trade them in on books that I do want... I have to say, it's nice... But here is a list of pros and cons.

Pros:

* Books you want for your old ones
* You get 2 free credits to start out with, if you post 10 books for swap (I posted the books to get the 2 credits and then I later took the books out of my list... I know I'm bad.)
* You don't literally swap, you send out a book and you get a credit to use for another book
* It's free when you get a book

Cons:

* You have to wait in line for a book if others want it too, or there are none available
* You have to pay postage yourself whenever you send a book, but that goes for people sending you a book too.
* Sometimes the wait lines take forever, and it gets frustrating when you want a book and there are 50+ other people who want it too

All in all, I think it's a pretty good website if you don't mind waiting for books. I've gotten about 5 books from the site and if it's a popular book, the wait lines aren't too long.

Be warned though, if you get a book that lots of people have and no one wants them and you get it and it sucks ass, you're going to have a hard time getting rid of it and you're out of a credit that you could have used for something better. I don't use the program to get books that everyone has, but no one wants.

I forgot... Here is the link to the website... Click here

Oh, and I am pretty sure international people can use the website too.

I wish I can read books... Books bore me to death unless they are about science and math.

Hmm, okay... Looks like International people can't use this website... :(

I love to read, it's a passion for me.

Because I like to take my time reading books and when I like a book, I don't want to get rid of it... I like to keep books that I like.

1. Create library card.
2. "Borrow" books
3. Change your name, move home, and maybe have some plastic surgery to be sure.
4. ???
5. PROFIT!!!

Lol, thats a lot of work that would cost more than to just join paperback swap.... Plastic surgery... *shakes head*

Actually I've been there and most books there were cheaper than dirt. Dirt these days are expensive too you know. :teach:

I can understand science as I enjoy that.. but maths? How is that more interesting than fiction?!

I know right, £85 for 1000kg of soil.

@OP: Library? Read it, if you still haven't read it, ring up and extend the date you give it back. Really like it? Mooch it. That way you don't waste credits!!!

My logic blatantly wins.

I love math as it is universal. Fiction needs grammar, and I have used Uzbek grammar most of my life, I have to translate everything in my thought process, so it makes it less bearable.

Lol mooching library books is not good... If you keep one and you go back even 10 years later they will make you pay for the book you stole, and if you make a habit of it, they won't let you check out books anymore.

Getting books at used bookshops is nice, but consider this... You walk into a used book store. *browsing books* You look for a book you want and you don't find anything, so you leave... You waste petrol driving around to find a book you're looking for and then it costs more than if you'd just buy it brand new.

I suppose it's hard for some people to understand why I like swapping books and if it's not for you, then do what you like. :)

By Mooch I meant use bookmooch/whateveroneyouuse

Never heard mooch as in stealing tbh, mooch here means like, doing nothing walking around.

to mooch is to try and blag something for free, like trying to score free chips everytime you go to mcdonalds by claiming you've been waiting too long.

You should do the bookcross thing. When you've read a good book, leave it in a public place telling that person to do the same when they have finished. They can record their name and where they left it, some books may have even travelled the world.

I left a copy of Zulu Dawn in France when i was on holiday a few years ago. Who knows where it is now? I wrote inside the front cover asking for the finder to pass it on and state where they left it as a record of where it has been.

That bookcross site gives people a means of finding out where their books have ended up (provided the recipient updates the site) as well as adding the possibility that another person from the site may pick it up, read it and drop it off elsewhere. The chances of the chain continuing are increased if someone who understands the intentions of the donator picks up the book.
