I wrote a paper on a book I didn't read...

...and got an A

Seriously, I think I would have never gotten such a good grade if I spent my time reading it instead of researching.

Did that for The Crucible, The Interesting Narrative of Olaudah Equiano, The Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass, and To Kill a Mockingbird. Will have to do it twice more to finish English IV when I go back to school on Wednesday. . .

Oh nice, I've read that book before (When hitler stole pink rabbit) it's p. good. You should actually read it some time.

That man looks like Charlie Chaplin

I meant to read it, but simply didn't have the time with all the other assignments.

Hahaha yeah. Been there, done that.
Got an A for my paper on "Das Blütenstaubzimmer" / "The Pollen Room" which is GOD-AWFUL.
You guys should never read it, it's the most boring piece of shit i have ever (not) read.
It's basically several hundred pages of a bitch whining about her parents that were divorced.
Big deal.
Really, it's an entire book about a bitch not being able to cope with her parent's divorce.

It's below stupid.

Actually, just copying some other essay on the book you're reading is often better than writing one yourself. If you read a book and try to interpret it by yourself, chances are you'll have a different interpretation than the one the teacher expects of you, and unless you're lucky enough to have a teacher who values individual thought (provided it's based and elaborated and backed up with citations, and not just pullin a random interpretation out your... thin air), you'll get a lower grade.

But The Crucible was so short.

Same here. Except mine was for the Song of Roland and it was for a university class.

I just used the in depth amazon book reviews
converted a small block of text into 5 pages :P

What fields are you all going into? I want to make sure I avoid your services at all cost.

Future Threads:

I performed a surgery on a man I never touched...

I fixed the transmission of a car I never opened...

I declared war on a country I never heard of...

I taught my students things I never learned...

It's not the same and you know it.

Nothing like a few far fetched comparisons, eh?

Ok. ok. Maybe it's not quite the same and I might have exaggerated a bit. Nonetheless it's a slippery slope. :teach:

I've taken "shortcuts" too, so I'm not judging. It's just disheartening to see people taking pride in it. Like getting an "A" without reading the book, is worth more than an "A" if you had read the book? If you had read the book you might be bettered as a person; not reading the book adds nothing to an individual. In fact, not reading the book might detract from a person's willingness to work toward their goals and if so, what becomes of them when there are no shortcuts left to take?
