Best anime movie in a long time.

It's by the director of The Girl Who Lept Through Time, Digimon (first two seasons), and other awesome works.

Seriously, such an amazing movie. The story and characters are so good, the music is really great, and the art and animation are superb. It's funny, cute, and awesome. You will laugh. You will cry. Ok, maybe that was just me.

You should all watch it and thank me later, though.

I thought this came out just recently? Or at least fairly recently.

EDIT: "The film was released in Japan on DVD and Blu-ray on March 3, 2010" SO SHADDUP.

Never saw an Anime movie, but I trust your judgement. I'll add it to my To Download list, thanks!

Yeah, I just recently watched it in 720p as well. I didn't understand the Koi-Koi stuff all that well, but that's okay I guess. It was a great watch at least.

Is this based on an anime series? I hope not, with the exception of Knockin' on Heaven's Door, they suck.

Looks really good though, description reminds me of Lain.

It's a movie and just a movie. There is nothing else to watch to understand it or to watch in chronological order. Now if you want to watch a previous work, you could watch "The Girl Who Lept Through Time", but even that doesn't have any relation to "Summer Wars" other than director.

Cool beans, I hate getting wrapped up in 20+ episodes of canon, only to realize the movie was non-canon the whole time or some crap :P I really like the character designs in the pic up there, I'll be checking this out.

The Koi Koi was stuff was related to hanafuda. Dunno how it's played, but it looked really interesting.

JUST FINISHED WATCHING.

OH GOD IT WAS BRILLIANT.

If you want to play "KOI KOI" go look for Go Stop. All you Koreans know what I'm talking about...

I think ijji has an online Go Stop game?

hmm... this looks mighty interesting. :) last two anime movies i've watched were... let's see.

5 Centimeters Per Second and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. both were awesomely done, especially 5cm/sec, as the artworks were luscious. i've had the good fortune of having an uncle-in-law (well... my aunt married a jap. nuff said) who's into quality anime movies as well, and he boasts quite a handful of classics. they recently just got back, and he was touting these two titles. i'll probably ask him to grab a copy of this and Arrietty when he gets back next month (Borrowers Arrietty should be out by then).

IIRC, you can play Koi Koi in Clubhouse Games on NDS.

BTW, gonna download this one. Seems interesting.
