Buying Headphones-Advice Please!

Well, I was wondering if these headphone specs are OK, because I need good, under £20 headphones with good bass and sound range, maybe discounted. All the techie bits explained please.

All the techy bits:

> Speaker 40mm
> Sensibility 108db S.P.L 1kHz (I'm guessing by that, they obviously mean 'sensitivity'
> Plug type 3.5mm
> Rated power 100mw
> Power capability 1000mw
> Cable legth 155cm
<hr />

So, I'm guessing by the 40mm speaker, this means the headphones have a 40mm driver - what does this mean? All the techy bits please. I'd like headphones for under £20 (maybe discounted from a high-street shop) that have good bass and surround sound, specs related.
And the sensitivity, rated power, capability-what do these all mean? I'd be grateful to hear feedpack from all audiophiles out there. I need headphones that'll make my DS sound good with Moonshell2 and LMP-ng-I DO have an iPod, but I can't be arsed.

Also, a small problem with LMP-ng. There's a loud 'screeching' sound at the start of each track, and there is a message saying 'buffer underrun'. Also, the track time remaining does not synchronize, and jumps randomly. The error message says 'Frame lost synchronization' or something like that. (msg 2)

That is the opposite of true.

To the OP: You say you care about audio quality, yet you're using the DS as a decoder? Pretty counter-intuitive.

Yes, I know. Weird, right. But I'm going to use it for my iPod, iPhone, all that iShit, but I don't think superb audio quality is needed for today at 4:00 running off to Madrid in a plane. I need them because whilst I'm going to listen to my iPod (good sound), I'm going to want to play things too on my DS (bad sound)
P.S Sorry about the quality of my post, my brain's all fuzzed up.

That's why I said "I think"

I don't think you can get good headphones for 20 pounds though

That's the point. The headphones I want have been reduced from £35. to £12.99.

Is this good *below*

ummm, I think they're quite good, at least as good as £13 'phones can be...they should do for a DS...i think
EDIT: oops, missed the reduced bit... :P
yeah, i thnk they're decent

the best headphones would usually have...

they are not important don't focus on specs

> Speaker 40mm size of the speaker
> Sensibility 108db maximum output in decibels
> Plug type 3.5mm standard plug for modern audio
> Rated power 100mw properly something about the amount of power needed for a certain amount of sound
> Power capability 1000mw max power they can get to the speaker without fucking up the audio or something like that
> Cable length 155cm DUH

see here gives info on what stuff means as well.

Specs aren't everything. You can get headphones that have seemingly good specs but the drivers still produce horrible sound.

And yes, Skullcandies are total shit. They're just popular because they look "cool and hip" for today's sheep teenagers.

You're unlikely to get 'good' new headphones for under £20.
Those Airwalk ones just look like some Skullcandy 'fashion'-phones.
One key thing that the specs will not tell you is how tough and durable they are - very important factor in my experience, especially if you are taking them with you and packing them in bags etc.
I've had these Sony DJ ones in the past and they were pretty durable and sounded decent. Plus they fold up neatly for storing in a bag.
They have a telephone coil cable which is nice so they don't get yanked off your head, but they do have the larger 3.5mm plug style, which will stick out from your ipod, iphone or DS quite a bit.

Sony MDR-V500DJ
Looks like someone is selling a used pair on eBay in the UK, price was £8.50 when I looked and has a Buy it Now for £12.50 (£8 shipping)
I'm sure they must retail for £35-50 in the UK.

Just a recommendation - they went on DJ tours with me & served me well for a few years.
Good luck.

My friend has Audio Technica ATH-T200
They're a little bit over what your looking for and they don't look AMAZING but the sound quality is pretty darn good if my headphones break this is what I'd replace them with.

The headphones I have a little more expensive and I'm real happy with them, I have Sennheiser HD205
Sound quality i pretty sweet and when you've got that music turned up load it sounds pretty fine to me.

EDIT: Damn typos

Sorry but I'm buying them, I love the pink/blue one and for £13 you can't go wrong, I'm not audiophile at all, I find my Skullcandy Lowriders fine so I must be the opposite :D

Thanks for the link

Oh and by the way, I have some Airwalk trainers as well :P They might go well with them
