Phone was stolen, need help

My mom's phone was stolen. People who originally claimed to have it now claim they don't. We have their number but not sure what help that would do. My mom works for CPS so this is an useful and expensive tool.

It was a Samsung Exclaim if that helps.

Please help! We can't afford a new phone.

First thing I would do if my phone was stolen is get it turned off so they don't make me pay for them using my minutes. If it is a work phone, then I would tell her to tell her workplace the whole story about somebody admitting then taking back what they said. Also how do you know the person? If they seem like the type of person who would carry a stolen phone with them call it when you are near them and then tell them to give back your freaking phone or you will call the police.

We don't know the person. Apparently my dad called and left a number to call if the phone is found and he was texted by someone claiming to have it (now they deny having it). Will probably file a police report.

Wouldn't you take this to the officials like police and such to handle matters like this? o.O strange you would run and write a blog asking for help. Legal advice is the way to go...even though I don't seem to understand half of your story :S

First go call up whoever you get service from (AT&T or whatever). If you report it as stolen the phone will be blacklisted and they won't be able to use it on any wireless service without a lot of hacking.

Then they'd probably just dispose of it... aka break it

Thanks but we acquired another. I appreciate your generosity.

So you'd prefer they rack up a nice bill for you then?

Hmm Badluck dude

If you can try to install Prey
I have it on my laptop but it also works on phones and macs, its basically a stolen item tracker that gives you geo locations programs used, screenshot of desktop (if used on laptop) its pretty handy.

That Dell data breach is worse than people probably realize....
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
When I worked for Dell we had access to data about military contracts and addresses for high ranking people.

I personally handled a call from the second highest person at Raytheon. That call bothered me a lot... The guy was nice and smart what bothered me was the way management basically just blew him off instead of going the extra mile to help him.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
In the end that call ended up costing Dell millions in lost contracts with Raytheon, and really the issue could have been solved for like 450 bucks lol

sometimes I wonder why anyone would ever buy mega man x legacy collection 2
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I always thought that capcom shuffled the games in these collection, but apparently they are all in chronological order, which makes legacy collection 2 worthless
