I Am Addicted to Minecraft

Well, I was watching a small video on Minecraft and it made me want to play it! I went to the website to see that it was down and until the site is up, Minecraft is free-to-play. ^^ I built a home inside a cave by a lake. It has 4 large treasure chests for storage, 1 workspace, 1 furnace, and a hell lot of basement. I have nothing to with that yet and I don't know what to use it for. I'll try to add some screens so you guys could see what I did. Later.

You think you're addicted? I play for more than 6 hours each day, usually all in one sitting, and I have a Minecraft theme on my PSP.

Anyway, you should post pictures of your cave. It's always cool to see other peoples' creations. If you don't mind, I'll post pictures of my awesome beach house I made on Banger (A member on here)'s SMP server when I can get Minecraft to work on this school laptop (The charger for my good laptop is broke...:c)

I was addicted before I got crashes.
I once stealth-griefed in a server for 8 hours straight.
Though that was back before fancy smancy servers with all their anti-grief technology. Pff.

It's going to be so amazing once it's "done". By done, I mean sold as a finished product, though I doubt it'll stop being updated for a very long time, considering the cash flow for it.

:(

At least I wasn't one of those noobs who ran around deleting blocks.

In one server, I actually had an underground minesystem going that allowed me to systematically grief, and then escape before ever being caught in the act.
If you could xray the ground and look at the minesystem, your brain would explode, and the best part is I always had my mines memorized. No matter how gigantic.
The only thing funner then stealthing was collapsing tunnels when people found my mine, to conceal the rest of my mine from being discovered.

So.
Fun.

I want to start playing, but I have no money in my Paypal at the moment.

Also, I don't get the point of this game, yet it seems fun. <_<

Fixed.

Explain what you do in the game? Most of what I seen is people walking around building things. Like a huge game of Legos.

It's basically a huge sandbox game where you build stuff. Very simple really, not much to hype.
I will never for the life of me, see what the big deal is with this game. It's like a ten dollar flash game.

There are two modes currently:

Survival (AKA Alpha) - You have to gather the materials from the environment, and you can craft things as well. This is the version that you are paying for.

Creative (AKA Classic) - The mode most people play/talk about. You have free-building access, and there are a lot of servers for it that you can find on the server list on the MineCraft page. This mode is free to anyone, but it will not be getting anymore updates, unlike Survival mode. However, server software creators such as the developers of iCraft are going to keep updating their software, allowing more to be done on Creative servers.

There is another mode coming in the future called Adventure, which is an RPG mode with a story. You will not be able to destroy or build terrain, but you will be able to gather items, such as food, weapons, armor, etc., throughout the adventure. This will be included in the paid version, but there isn't any other news on when it will be released or have an alpha version.

I tried out MC this past weekend since it was free due to the server issues, I had briefly played the free browser-based multiplayer mode several months before but it didn't catch my interest. After seeing MC articles constantly spammed to the front page of Reddit I finally decided to give it another go, this time with better understanding of how the game is played and what it is all about. Anywho, 20 hours later and Ive got a massive cave network with underground rivers, mine shafts below the ocean to drain into my lair, lava gardens, a giant frikkin castle, and now I am experimenting with redstone circuits. So yeah, this game is fucking addicting.

Strange. My friends have started playing MC as well.

MC fever is spreading! HIDE! :O

Every time I'm with them all they talk about is MC. Think I'll try it out on the weekend. Too much school work.

:yay: Join the club. Just look at the Minecraft thread in the computers section. Most of the people who posted there are addicts, including tdwp_ftw. There are high chances that you'll eventually buy the game when free to play ends. I think everyone (or almost) who tried it here bought it.

Yeah for as much as I love to download my games for free(its a nasty obsession with most of us I would assume), I am really tempted to fork out the dough and purchase Minecraft just to prove a point. Vote with your dollar. Notch is providing an awesome game, and deserves it. Just imagine being in his shoes, to develop some stupid little game for your own enjoyment and it blows up and becomes a huge hit. However I really think he should go with a name-you-own-price method (like the humble indy bundle), it would probably really boost his sales.

In the last 24 hours 20779 people bought the game.
The game is selling for €9.95 so....
