I told them it would work on paypal as that would probably work better with changing the euros to usd, though they say it won't work

Though in minecrafts case, a great reason to buy it is because pirate servers suck the big one, and there aren't many. Plus singleplayer is craptastic compared to multiplayer. Only saving grace are mods for SSP...but it still gets boring.


Also credit card failures are usually always the persons fault, not whoever you're buying from. If it failed your dad probably entered something wrong, or the credit card was at its limit. Though it's possible MC.net was sucking like it usually does.

Just before Beta came I found a solution: my friend, who bought the game, could just buy another copy and give that to me. And that worked very well. I just had to repay him €10,- for the game.

This happened to all my friends actually. The payment gets declined because it charges in a different currency (Euros) You have to call the bank and authorize it, its the banks fault not Minecraft.net they probably don't even have the CC Number because the bank stopped it. I ordered it via paypal which charges in USD then converts it for you so no conflicting currency issues.

Your dad's silly...This is why I have paypal and a job (but im guessing its not that simple for the OP)

This. They also have Visa and Mastercard ones, I'd use Visa personally. You gotta pay a 5 dollar or so activation fee up front, and then it's a real credit card that you can only spend $25. So buy one of those, pay for Minecraft, then blow the rest on cheap crap from Dealextreme. Pops doesn't even have to know.

I use Paypal with my Debit Card all the time. Its entirely safe.
