My Mom Just Died

I'm not even going to try writing something.

I'm so sorry to hear that. :C I just hope and pray that she's in a better place now.

I lost my mom last year, so I know how it feels. She died of cancer.

I don't know how much it hurts to lose a parent, but I have lost my grandpa. It hurt. A lot. If my dad or mom was gone... I don't even want to imagine it.

this is a DS forum, though this is the blog section.
that's irrelevant.
i don't understand the thought process; "my mom just died. holy fuck bawls, i better go tell GBAtemp. but wait - even though i'm posting this blog, i'm not going to give them any info about who i am, who she was, how she died, or our relationship. i'm just going to be short and simple, real mysterious-and-dramatic-like. oh shit that's right my mom just died."

i don't get how when one's mother dies, they feel the need to come post on a gaming forum about it.

so in short, i smell a fakey mc.fakerson.

1. You have no idea how I feel. I feel horrible.
2. It's hard to let words out on a sensitive topic like this. I'm bad at talking about emotional matters.
3. Is it wrong to let people know? The more people know, the more relieved I feel. GBATemp is like a neighborhood of people who I like. I've been here for nearly 2 years, it's more than a DS Forum, it's a community. This is the one of the only forum on the internet where people are nice and know each other, and you can get to know people.

Um, hello, they're in a great deal of shock and pain right now. When my mom died, I didn't know what to say to my friends who were in an online chat room with me, besides cry and say "My mom just stopped breathing!" and tell them that I'd be right back.

Please try to be more understanding, and not act like a total ass.

My dearest sympathy goes out to you.
I haven't lost a parent but my grandmother passed away last Summer and even though we weren't that close it's, for a fact, the saddest thing I've ever experienced. I can only imagine what it's like to lose someone who's even closer than that....

I hope things go well for you soon enough and sorry for ya lose, bud :-/

Wow Shabutie78 you're an ass....Simple as that

But I am sorry to hear this and your in my prays. I couldn't imagine if I lost my mom...The closest I lost to that was my brother and I was a wreck. You just gotta stay strong and hope they are in a better place.

Oh man... I'm really sorry to hear that. I personally haven't had a parent die yet, but my friend's mother died of cancer just a few years back and I know that was very hard for him. I'll pray for the well being of your family and I really hope you feel better soon. My grandfather died in 2006 and it was very hard for me, but I soon recovered emotionally and now I'm just fine, and I found solace in knowing hes in a better place, and my family's support.

That sucks, man.
My parents got divorced shortly after I was born. My dad stayed in Spain (where I was born) and my mom brought me and my sister here. I was like 4 months old.

I practically didn't know my dad (just photos/letters and birthday/christmas phone calls) and it still hurt tremendously when he died in 2004.

I hope you get over it.

Gaming community or not, this is still a community. It's probably a community that KingdomBlade interacts with on a regular basis. If his writing in a blog about something personal and sharing it with this community is inappropriate, then I can't imagine what would be considered appropriate.

@KingdomBlade: I have no reason to believe you're lying about something as tragic as losing your mom. I'm really sorry to hear that. I can understand how you don't have much to say about it--I don't have much to say either because nothing I can say will make you feel better.

But I can offer my deepest condolences and know that (most) of the community sympathizes with you.

Anyone who wants to be a douche about it will be suspended. That's the only warning I'll give.

My condolences. Losing a loved one is always hard, telling someone is probably the best.

No one's gonna think you're a pussy in real life if you cry(the people that do have probably never lost someone and can't relate or are trolls), so if you decide to hold back just because of that, whatever man, just do it.

I'm sure you'll get through whatever happens though, people have a tendency to do so.

as someone who very rarely posts, but watches this forum every day, i feel compelled to express my sympathy.

I'm sorry for your loss, and i know what it's like... My mother died when i was 12 of cancer, and my foster mother who cared for me after just recently died, also of cancer.

It's a horrible thing to experience, having the people once closest to us, not with us anymore. As you already know, we as a community are all here for you, and each other.

My best wishes go out to both you and your family. I hope you feel better in the future and that your mom is in a better place now. :( TT^TT

Wow, I don't even know what to say...

I've never lost close family, besides my grandparents on my dad's side of the family, but I didn't know them very well, so I can't say for myself. It's horrible to lose anyone though, close or not.

Sometimes I have nightmares about one of my parents dying, and even those are horrifying. I'm terribly sorry for your loss, and my prayers go out to you. I hope you and your family will get through this in years to come.

my dad's in prison right now...it's not a death though, but a parent is missing,it's not the same feeling but i sort of understand you mate
feel sorry for ya,i'll be praying like some comrades from here that she's in a better place now :)
God has many reasons to do things...and strange ways of doing them too,so don't you worry,it's kinda hard but you have to keep it up,if not you, then who?
i don't know you or such, but you have my support man, even if emotional ;)

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
