"World Economy Crumbling!"

That quote is what I heard on the news this morning and it gave me chills down my spine. Is this the grim future we face? I sure hope not. I am not even old enough to get into Stocks or Politics but fuck man this scares the shit out of me. I am afraid of going into another depression. I don't want to lose everything I have and live in some shack somewhere.

Oh, maybe they can fix it but if not it was nice knowing you guys, these next few days will tell if we are really heading to a depression.

You're just being paranoid, I know what it's like living in a country where everything goes up almost every week and government funds are being stolen on a regular basis, but as you can see, I still have all the 'needs' and some 'wants'.

I don't know... I hear on the radio that this might be worse than 1929 but I refuse to believe this.
Times have changed, our civilization has learnt from its past mistakes.
Now there isn't much we can do besides waiting... I suppose.

Not to mention that since GBAtemp is owned by CNET Networks, this crisis might have repercussions on our community :O

CNET

The worst a depression will last will be around 2010 methinks. It's starting now, 2009 will be shit, second half of 2010 will be like now (but obviously, in reverse), and 2011 will be fine and dandy. Perhaps I'm being too laid back about this, but I'm just gonna ride the waves until this thing finishes. Then again, I have a "I can survive anything thrown at me" attitude, which is probably why I'm so calm :P

As a recent graduate from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor's of Science in Economics, all I have to say is "WTF, financial institutions?!" I mean, really, these people have been involved in some risky (and in some cases, downright bordering on unethical) lending practices. They're just lucky the Fed and the Treasury are stepping in a saving their asses (which indirectly saves all our asses, even if it's probably coming out of our pockets in the long run). Now maybe the SEC will get off their butts and do something about the current bogus set of regulations present in the financial world, and we can try and prevent this from happening a second time. (Oh, but don't worry, Mankind will always be an expert in screwing things up, especially when they're playing around with other people's money.)

End Rant.

*groans*

Well, the US credit squeeze is still going strong and it is taking a lot of banks down with it. And the housing problems (the way they are financed) that caused all the red numbers on wall street has not been and will not be solved in the next couple of months... So yeah financial tough times, in the US yes and in the rest of the world maybe...

the easy answer here is to blame bush and the right wing republicans but thus has been building up since the economic boom of the mid to late 90's and were just reaping the seeds of corruption that were sown then

Sigh. Is it really going to be every week that the world's going to end?

But hey, if the end does come this time, at least it's been good so far. =P

there's a simple solution we just have to make more monies and then if inflation happens we just make more and more monies..... its a plan that cant fail.
