Making Backups Sucks

Today, I went ahead and started to burn disc back ups of all my DS stuff (over 7GB :3), my PSP stuff (only had about four games actually saved outside of my PSP), and all of my misc stuff such as old school documents, pictures, music, and the like. I ended up going through about 8 discs, with three failures that froze at writing the leadin, and actually required me to unplug the burner to make it stop trying to burn data to the disc. Through a plethora of error messages, I somehow managed to create working burns of all of my backup data. Now, I need a sharpie of some sort to label them, and a way to store them as I lack jewel cases or a CD/DVD case.

At least burning off my 20GB worth of crap went faster than burning a 1GB movie.

If you haven't seen it yet, I was looking for game recommendations. Check it out at the following link and suggest me stuff.

backups on optical media?

why don't you put them on something that won't scratch? (especially since you say you have no cases for them)

This. Why not get an extra hard drive? Or maybe an external one?

I have absolutely no cash. We've had the discs for about a year already, mainly because we stopped burning movies around then.

If you're going that route, get a SSD. Less to worry about since there's no moving parts, so if you bang it while it's powered you won't cause as much damage.
That, or back up to a high capacity USB drive or SD card.

Then suffer the consequences of potentially destroying your backups by scratching cheap, easily breakable discs.

It's nothing I can't get back (minus my NDS saves). I do have the ability to be careful though.

Careful doesn't always cut it. Especially with a hard drive. They do fail randomly and without warning sometimes, so it's always best to be prepared.

Face the wrath of my bold, underlined text!!! RARRGH!

Seriously, don't be a douche. Its all he's got at least he's making a backup. I have none of my stuff backed up. Need to buy a cheap 500GB HDD to run Windows Backup tool through.

Also recommending an SSD? Seriously? THose things are really expensive. THey might be the best for corporations etc. where backups are critical but for the average user DVDs or HDDs are definitely more accessible options.
