Well as the title says... this is my first blog entry. Sooo lezza go!
I'll start by saying I'm probably going to begin spending a little less time here. Nothing against anybody or the site itself but I have a bit on my plate right now. What exactly? Ummm I kind of enrolled into this nice little program. It all starts with my first year of Community College (back in 2010)....
To put it shortly, I dun goof'd. I went in straight out of high school since my option was either that or a job but I didn't take it seriously. Classes became a handful, for my dumbass at least, and I dropped out. For about a year I've been doing nothing but playing games, hanging out, roaming the internet, eating everything around the house. You know... a good for nothing, lazy ass moocher. It wasn't until some months ago I decided I need to do something with myself but how...? My grades were crap at CCRI and I was broke so consistently taking classes wasn't an option.
Around March 2011, a friend of mine discovered this program. They offer a one year program with 23 transferable college credits (from CCRI btw) which are gathered in a 6 month Learning & Development phase and 6 month Internship phase while also being payed bi-weekly. He was enrolled at that time but told me how it would be a good opportunity to get up on my feet again so I signed up. After about a weeks worth of interviews, tests, and a presentation I was accepted and am now enrolled as their "Class 14".
I'm pretty happy with what I'm doing and so glad I didn't go back to classes the semester after the one I messed up on or else I would've been all out of any Financial Aid Awards the following semester there. I'm not too worried about the credits they offer, just so long as I can earn them so I can start going to school again with no problems.
So where does that tie into my time here? Well I doubt anyone really noticed but I haven't really posted as much as usual the entire previous week. L&D phase started last week and from what I see so far there's a lot I have to learn and a lot of work I need to put in. I want to take this as seriously as possible... especially with my bad high school records also. I just figured I'd let you guys know what's going on since a big thing we've been speaking of at the program is our "community" and how important a community should be to us.
I'll still be around of course. Most likely lurking here and there when I have the time but it's very likely my daily post count won't be as high as usual.
Decent way to break in my first blog, no?
EDIT: I'm hoping to make a habit of this just to sort of change my norm. It's taken me a while to sort of understand a bit of myself and at the moment i'm not really happy with how things go. At this point, I'd like to change for the better. I worried too much about myself and not about those around me and how I affect them soooo yeah... Better future and better me ftw.
It's a bit late right now but I'll try to be on tomorrow/later if the work load isn't so bad. I love GBAtemp. It's sorta like a second home now... except on the internet.
