I thought it was simple:
1.Sin
2.Ask for forgiveness
3.Feel better
4.???
5.Profit
So I said "If its that simple whats the harm of following it." My mistake. I got the bible easy but that gave rise to questions like "So what did adam and eve eat?" or "Why does christianity exsist if the bible says nothing about it?" I asked pastors and all they gave me was the flat generic response of "The answers lie in the bible." I read over the books and verses that should tell me why but all I get is some topic change or nothing at all.
It all came crashing for me after I had a long discussion with family about why they are so upset the bible isnt in schools. Overall thier main reason that it should be in schools is because "thats what they grew up with and everything was fine back then so it should stay."
"My argument was that back then there was like 4 or 5 other races (30s-60s) and they didnt have as much say back then, so it would make sense to asume that their religions didnt get much attention so after the civil-rights movements it would be too much hassle to focus on all religions so why wouldnt the government stay neutral."
Long story short they said that im stupid and christianity should be the only religion. >_>
Anyway this isnt the first time ive heard a christian basically say that everything the bible says is 100% right and undoubtedly best. But then they want to use the bible to justify things like gay-bashing and killing thier wives but they will still go around chewing bacon (old testament says you shouldnt eat pork) and spouting "God dammit" all the time.
Im not saying I hate christians or god doesnt exsist, Im just saying I would rather not join the popularity club with 70% hypocrisy :\
