Brony Meetup in Stockholm!

Today, I went to a meetup a group of 30-some bronies had planned.

Yeah, I know, this blog will get shit for it, but whatever.

This was total impromptu for me: I just strolled into town late this morning to go raiding record stores.
At first, it felt a bit weird to see them there. They had made their own banner and blasted some pretty awesome music from a boombox.
Then I decided "Who the fuck cares? When will I ever meet people who likes ponies, anyways?"
So I took this chance to get to meet them.

Naturally, I was expecting some jackass weeabronies who knew no better than to simply herp their derps about the silly horse fad.

But I was met with something quite different.

Rather, these were normal, completely ordinary Swedish civlians who like MLP:FiM.
No weird emancipation shit, no constant show references, nothing substantial that normally gave people kneejerk reactions.

They were simply people who liked watching the show, who went to raid some toy stores for ponies, go to Laserdome, and grab some lunch.

By the time we were done with lunch, it'd gotten dark, and the new episode was out. So someone's brilliant plan was to go to someone's house with a huge TV and watch the episode together.

And no real bullshit happened. No one argued or complained over haters, or really reacted when they at one point came up and tried to rile us up.

It was perfect.... just because it was so simple.....

Overall, great day: it's easy to forget that the bronies behind they keyboards are often decent people. If only everyone treated each other that way on the nets...?

hehe, nice meeting people of similar interests, eh? ^_^
Great to know that you've found some peeps to associate about it with.

I've never really met a brony IRL, which is why I can only base them as they are on the Internet. I guess they're alright as long as they don't infest threads outside the eof.

Aye, it's really something different when everyone handles themselves seriously about the show, like these swedish bronies did. I've seen rather asshole-ish behavior from other bronies that just regurgitate the show's crap on my hands, and that's undesirable, to say the least. But I look past that.

Frankly, I've made it a personal rule eradicate ponies as often as possible from other sections than the EOF. Can never be too careful where I might strike a never with them, even in my avatars/signatures.

There is no such thing as a normal bronie. That's an oxymoron.

I agree. What I mean is more specifically is a civil brony. One that keeps true to the definition of brony.

Never got why the show is so great, it made no sense whatsoever to me...I feel more like this whole pony thing was made for trolling purposes...

I suppose it's something of a counter-counter-culture movement, in a way. Nonetheless, I think the reasons people like the show is entirely subjective. To me, it just puts me at ease, hence why I'm not into fanfics or fan pics or..... anything, really. I only really watch the show.

I am kinda hoping that any future furmeets that I shall attend (God permitting) will be this civil.
...no; I consider myself a semi-furry, liking anything animal-based (generally), yet not being "deep" into the fandom.
