View attachment 112505
i waited 5 FUCKING HOURS for windows to copy the contents of my sdcard to my new one
normally i would use my laptop + solus which would take about 30mins
but i dont have access to it atm
and just now my hate for this OS has grown even more

You never stopped to think that it might be the SD card/reader at fault?

Reminds me of a guy who formatted his PC hard drive because he could not burn a disc. Turned out it was a bad batch of discs.

I know about fakes
I just haven't seen these 50tb cards anywhere
but I've seen 1tb cards
I kinda want one but im not spending more than $20 on something that is likely fake

@jt_1258
not corrupted
just painfully slow speeds and file corruption
I've tried doing the same thing with my phone and it didn't fuck up
tried using the same hardware but with my hdd and it was way faster and didn't fuck up
did it with my stepdads hdd and same hardware
fucked up
then I didn't even let it finish the second time cuz it froze

@Thelonewolf88
holy shit that's stupid
but tbh I would probably buy 3 different cd drives before finding out its the disk
mostly cuz the only issue I've had with disks was disk rot on a 16? year old disk

@330
I know
I keep seeing them being sold online
I kinda want to buy one even though I know their most likely fake
but they are way too expensive for me
and even if they were real I still wouldn't get one

Must suck if thats too expensive.

The thing that bothers me the most is the update nags that take over the whole screen (I can't update because I didn't make the system partition big enough and there's only 1 GB free space left). It's upgraded to the big window now where it won't let you do anything without either clicking Hide or Try Again. Other than that, Iike Windows 10. It looks and runs better than 7.

my fondest memory of windows was back on vista
"installing update 67 of 1722"
*come back next day*
"installing update 812 (or 821 idr) of 1722"
*come back next day*
"installing update 1580 of 1722"
but what sucked the most was that it sat on the stupid update screen for so long and no option to cancel
why does windows need so many updates?
and sometimes the updates don't even do anything too

@Subtle Demise, ya, that's about the only issue I have myself since I'm pretty tight on space on my laptop myself, though it's more a matter of I need to clear up some stuff to do it rather than not being able to at all
@Eix, ya need to make sure you don't take the optional updates that are part of it, just don't check them off on the update screen

sdcards were not the issue
my phone transfered fine and so did my hdd in the pc I was using
but when I used my stepdads hdd in that pc to try ot a second time it froze

@jt_1258 The guy who fixes my (my mom's) computers dislikes Windows 10 so my mom, not knowing anything about computers, is terrified of updating.

@Eix
Is your PC Windows 10? I don't see why the os would be messing up your SD card as it works fine for me and I use Windows 10. It's either your SD card is messed up and only sometimes works or the SD card port in the computer you plugged the SD card into is bad.

E
@Nerdtendo
nice
my mom thinks if I plug my 3ds into her laptop it will give her viruses XD

E
@Seliph
no
only actual PCs I own are on windows xp and are piled in my closet
some don't work anymore :(
but my laptop (main one) uses solus as its main OS
and can also boot xubuntu
it used to have win8.1 too but I got fed up with it and deleted the partition

E
@Nerdtendo
XD yeah
my 3ds (and all 3ds) only use a + and - pin
so even though my charger is modded for usb it can only receive power
can't send or receive data XD

    @SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

    anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

    if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

    Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    @BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
    +1
  • cearp @ cearp:
    You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
    still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
    i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
    It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

    @rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
