Foodie Challenge: Meat and Mushroom Skewers from Breath of the Wild!

I honestly didn't know what to make for dinner tonight, until I ended up sinking most of my weekend into beating shrines, clearing dungeons and cooking some food in Breath of the Wild.

Ingredients:
- large chunk of beef (eye of round)
- button mushrooms (may try this with the more expensive stuff, but this is rather delicious as is)
- random spices in pantry (I used ground ginger, cayenne pepper, white pepper, and black pepper)
- fish sauce (yes, I'm Chinese, that's obvious...you can probably sub more soy sauce as well)
- soy sauce

Prep:
Soak skewers in water for a couple of hours. Chop up your eye of round into steaks and then into chunks for the skewers. Halve your button mushrooms. Mix up your spices and different sauces. (Eyeball 'em!) Use water to dilute the combination into a paste. Mix into your chunks of meat. Marinate for 3 hours or so (go play more BoTW!). Thread them onto your skewers, along with your mushrooms.

Cook:
I tossed them into the oven at 400 c. (Note: Crappy toaster oven.) I had a tray under the things, plus parchment paper on top of them. The mushrooms leak juice everywhere, and I had to drain the tray twice during cooking. The tops turned pinkish after 45 minutes, and I turned them twice. They cooked for about two hours.

Tasting:
The mushrooms stayed very juicy and delicious, and they seemed to absorb some of the meat juices. Next time I'd also marinate them in the same mix. The meat is rather tough, but flavourful - the mixture I had was spicy as heck (can I venture out in the cold now?).

Next Time: I'd add liquid smoke or smoked paprika (don't have it in the house), as the texture was similar to grilled meat, and I miss the smokey flavour of it.

*clap clap clap* You've done a gamer and Link proud. Just make sure you just throw all the ingredients in a pot let it bounce around as you hum and hope for the best.

MasterDimentio - that may be a cream/milk based cocktail. I'm thinking maybe a Grasshopper styled one (chocolate and creme de menthe)....

You could be our GBAtemp's official Gaming Chef man! You could make a recipe book of all the recipes from games as well as shows. It will be a big hit and you'll become even more awesome in the process!
