I Built a PC, Sold It, Bought A New One

i dropped a pc tower, it busted, i upgraded to that a pc with pretty good power, sold that when the time was right, sold some nintendo switch games and now i have a new one.

here are the specs:

ryzen 5 3600
16 gb 3200hz ram
rtx 2080 super, the cheapest one, but they all run the same

there are more specs but they get boring...

Initially I wanted the $400+ AMD RX5700xt, but to get its full potential I would have had to buy a $200 motherboard, which would have put the total to that of $600+ which is almost the same as a RTX 2080.

It sucks though because all ive read about the rtx series is abput how much of a ripoff they are and how a lot of the cards are dying and such... That and im pretty sure the CPU i bought is a bad one, I can tell that its dying mas rapido and its temperatures are much higher than they should be. Im gonna have to go and exchange some parts which really sucks because this is the second time its happened with me and Ryzen. Im stress testing everything especially the gpu and I realy dpnt want to have to exchange it

Update August 5th:
Yea the CPU fan was going bad, it was screeching like what you would hear from an Electric station, whatever they are called i dont remember at the moment. I exchanged it and everything is fine now from the temps to the fan. Weird. Thats TWO times that I bought a Ryzen CPU and it died within a few days.

Upon Further Testing:
so Ryzen 3600 chip no1 was only barely able to get up to 4.1ghz at 100%(4.1025 or something, no Overclock) which is not very close to the advertized 4.2ghz, it would utilize 20% of the chip but the temps would get up to the 80's. after two days of testing, the fan started making a high pitched buzzing sound, and i went and exchanged it.

Ryzen 3600 chip no2, in the same case with the same fan was able to hit over 4.22ghz EASY no Overclock, at 20% usage it gets up to around 68degrees-ish, which is normal from what i've read. I've since put an aftermarket cooler on it and its doing even better than stock.

chip no1 was a complete dud.

As for the MSI Ventus OC 2080 Super, i looked at the stats(or whatever) and it was hitting 2025Mhz on just stock usage, its advertised max clock is 1830Mhz. So maybe i might be reading it wrong, but its a good card from what ive read and stuff. Cool Beans.

dang, sorry to here that! heck I'm still fudging around with a Pentium 4. Some capacitors on the board need replacing, but it can take up to 4gb of ram and has got a 512mb video card :D
The other day I got excited about an AMD K6 board with a wopping 256mb of ram, I'm gonna put FreeDos on a floppy disk and mess around with it. It's supposedly equivalent to the Pentium II (which I have lying around but no motherboard to go with it.)
My fave is this AMD Athlon-X2 that can also do 4gb and even has HDMI.

O h no I started digressing....
I guess AMD Ryzen cpu's aren't very high quality??

Those are some nice specs, sucks to hear about the DOA components though. If it's a pre-built there's a possibility that they screwed up in applying the thermal paste to the CPU, or put none on there at all. Or maybe it's just kind of a cheap/stock heatsink.

Well, things happen with technology. However, the 20xx series doesn't have the issue now that it did at launch. It will be fine. As for the temps? Did you install the cooler properly? You'd be surprised at how often a simple mistake can bring the mood down on a build. If it is a pre-built? Then, yeah, contact the company.

Rocking a Ryzen 7 3700x, upgrading from the 2700x. Both are stellar chips. No regrets. Upgraded from an i7-4790k. The Zen 2 (3xxx) chips are great value for the money. Not just for gaming, but productivity as well.

its not a pre-built. I was running it again today and im sure its just the chip or the wraith stealth fan. I ran some games in 4k and it started buzzing very loud and the temps are very high.(i was getting 64°c on ryzen2600, and getting 90° on the 3600) Its the cpu and not the gpu luckily. I bought the cpu a week ago so i can still just go and exchange it. I did thermal paste myself, i scraued and cleaned off the pre -applied paste and used mx4

and yea a pentium is better than what i was using before. I was using a Core 2 Quad at 2.5ghz up until just months ago when i upgraded in March.

A Core 2 Quad is still fine for general computer tasks, my parents have my old Core 2 Duo build from 2007.

I upgraded it with a SSD for them and they recently added a Geforce 1030 which outputs 4k @ 60hz to their new 4K monitor. Windows 10 is really responsive and they have no problem browsing the internet, using Microsoft Office and managing their photos / videos form their cameras.

@MicmasH_Wii yea, all the chips and all the graphics cards naming schemes from around 2008-2016 were just a complete mess. talking about AMD A.3 to A.10 with all the bullshit numbers and the graphics cards R5-270 or r9-390 and the Intel i3-XXX and the numbers schemes were and are all messed. I was very confused about any of the computer components and just didnt want to do any research. It wasnt until Ryzen and RX and GTX 1000/RTX 2000 series that i understood it at first glance. But from what i saw on youtube the naming schemes are gonna become very insane again on Intel and Nvidia's parts.
