I have OCD

For about 2 and a half years now, I've been suffering from extreme cases of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). If you don't know what that is, Wikipedia it.
Anyway, my case is that I have this well (OK this is so embarrassing :/ ) fear of "school germs" (or whatever you wanna call them). Anyway, whenever I come back from school, I don't touch anyone, I don't touch the couch, I don't touch the desk, the bed, the walls, nothing. That's cause I've got these "school germs" (OR WHATEVER YOU WANNA CALL THEM) on me. I sit on the floor with my backpack next to me, and stay on the ground for HOURS till I get my homework done. Now these "school germs" are obtained by simply going to school. I've always been wanting to be my ordinary self again like the ordinary kids in the school. I wanna go home, take a shower, then go to my desk and do the homework. But I can't, cause after showering I'll have to touch my books, which will give me school germs, meaning I can't touch anything without showering my school germs off.
Say my friend calls me and goes like "Hey, can you check your Agenda and tell me which pages we have to solve on the Math Homework?" No I can't do that. Touching my Agenda will give me school germs. -.-
Guys I know, that when someone has OCD, they have to contact a doctor immediately, but this is the thing: I'm still a middle school kid, so my mom is the one who does appointments with the doctor, and she doesn't BELIEVE me when I tell her I have OCD. She thinks I just want to seek attention or some crap like that idk how people think sometimes.
What I hate most, is like when my maid puts my school backpack on my bed, and now the WHOLE BED has school germs on it, and I have to wash the entire blanket.
Oh and I shower EVERYDAY since I'm pretty much getting school germs everyday.
One also very annoying thing is I can't take my iPhone or DS to school cause they'll get school germs all over them and I need to disinfect them with Dettol or something like that.
Anyway, I've lately been coming up with multiple ways to cure myself from OCD (it's about time) WITHOUT a doctor. My method is the following:

- I make a JOURNAL. And with this journal, I keep track of everything that happens in my life. Here's the catch though, this Journal is gonna be with me in school AND when I'm not in school, meaning I'm gonna carry the school germs with me everywhere meaning hopefully soon enough, I'll get over my OCD.

Now here's the problem:

- I'm too scared to get school germs on my Journal :/ . I didn't take it to school yet.

Does anyone know some methods and procedures I can use all by myself to get over this retarded case of OCD?

Guyss I know this is SOOOO ridiculous. I know there are no such things as school germs. I know this is all in my head. Everyone with OCD knows they have OCD. But well this is the effect of OCD and I don't know what to do.

SoulSnatcher: I don't borrow books, I buy new clean prints =D

Fear Zoa: Germs on the internet 0_o ? Sarcasm much? :P

Julian Sidewind: What makes me crazy about touching other stuff when I have these school germs on me is that the school germs spread on the stuff I touch. And I guess I fear these germs spreading for absolutely no reason. It just REALLY bothers me to the extent that I do my homework on the floor. I don't know how to explain it it's just this craxy feeling =/ . Changing my clothes and washing my hands wouldn't be enough cause my elbows, arms and all would still be covered. Even if I did was those too, I'm sure in school I must've put my head on the table = my hair getting school germs. And if I'm gonna wash my hair too then whatever I'll just take a shower :P And It's np you can always ask :P

TDWP FTW: I do touch a lot of stuff in school all the time. I get COVERED in my so-called school germs. That's why my homework is done on the ground and I rush to the shower.

Hakoda: I don't know how to meditate... I can't postpone the shower to the next day cause then I'd get school germs on my bed and I'd have to wash my blankets, bed sheets, pillows and all.
Oh, and it's not about showering once a day or not. I mean yeah it is personal hygiene but the main reason I do it is to wash the school germs off.

imshortandrad: Thanks... Face my fear do you mean like I should jump in my back pack and swim in all that school stuff then go to bed and not shower for like a week? That would be REALLY tough.
Like everyone else says, face your fears. I used to have the same problem, but I realized that there were germs all around me. Nowadays, I just keep away from certain people (there's always got to be that one weird kid at school that does...strange things.), although, I'm afraid to flush in public bathrooms, so I usually kick it instead, and I feel sick when people walk out of their bathrooms without washing their hands ;-;
Realizing that there are germs around me isn't exactly a perfect way to calm down :P
My room is REALLY clean. Yes I know there are germs in there too but I'm pretty sure there are less germs in there than an everyday ordinary room.
Thx for trying to help though. :P
Oh yeah people who don't wash their hands after using the toilet make me wanna barf for real. Yuckk.
And what do you mean "so I usually kick it instead" ? :P

Soncicslasher: Why, what was monk doing to you? :P Oh and I tried not washing my hands but then I seriously can't touch anything else. I just can't it drives me crazy.
omg I'm so paranoid about this crap.

celeron53: Haha mate the point of the notebook was that I take it everywhere with me, meaning I'll have school germs with me all the time. But the plan didn't work :/

"Out out damn spot"

It's a symptom. The problem is somewhere else, repressed.
You are going to have do deal with the underlying cause, or it will simply surface as something else.

It is most likely something that reminds you of your school... or something you associate with your school.

BTW, if you can afford a maid, you can afford to go see a therapist.

My best friend has a weird OCD too. He needs to have even numbers for every action. Like if you tap him once, he will either make you tap him or tap you. It's even worse when it's his hair. When you touch his hair, he'll mess up your's. If you touch his hair and run away, he'll chase you and decide to pull your hair. He also believes that he has some sort of energy on him and it you dust it off of him, he'll try to put his "energy dust" back.

I also have some sort of OCD I think. I absolutely cannot be in a alone. If I'm alone, I'll run out of the room. Well, unless I'm at home, then it's fine, but anywhere else, I go insane. It's probably when I "feel alone". Like when my friend just left and I have to do something, I look for someone else. I have an inability to go anywhere without someone else. Also, when someone makes a grammatical error, I will correct it most of the time, that's what makes people angry at me at times.

About your problem, there are no germs. Germs aren't actually.. that deadly, they just spread. It's everywhere, but it won't do anything to you. I mean, a bar of soap could have more germs than a burger. School is full of germs, but they don't infect you. It's all in your head, it's kinda like cooties.

If something traumatic happened to you at school, something you have buried in your subconscious, you may want to address this, and the hand washing should then disappear.

That is the theory, anyway.

Yeah but if you read my first post well I wrote down why I can't see a doctor/therapist.. ;)

You're claustrophobic! :O
And btw when I was younger I used to be a lot like your friend.
I do know germs are everywhere. I do know most are harmless. I do know it's in my head. And yeah, it is sort of like cooties.
I know all that I'm not having a problem agreeing with you.
It just keeps me uncomfortable when I carry these school germ thingies.

*Stalks XLarge out of the thread*

I'm out to get you.

The only known cure for fear is to face the fear.
Immerse yourself in it until it becomes bearable.
It's far from an ideal solution, but it can work.

Fighting your own mind is one of the tougher battles you might face.
I wish you luck.

Oh dear...
God help me.
As far as I know, fear of germs isn't OCD at all...
It's similar in a way, but it's not OCD.

Sounds more like mysophobia what you've got going on
The weird thing is that school germs are only gotten when I go to school.
If I go to the mall or something and I come back home, I just need to change my clothes and I'm perfectly fine.
Still think it's mysophobia?
hahaha dude just kidding man (not the part that I am a schizofrenic)

Lol no problem.

Is it just the germs in your school that you ocd over? Do you ever get like this after going any where else like the mall? If your really interested in getting over your ocd you gotta go get help and tell your parents about it if you haven't already.

@Xdqwerty there is health behaviour you can add to your character, then to use a health bar is lil more complicated, google n watch a few tutorial video on it, be too hard to explain here.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the character has the health behavior
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I know you have to create a health and health max variable. Then there is a calculation you use in code to subtract width size of the health bar. Google few vids.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the "greenflatbar" is one of the preset health bars btw
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you can use any bar/sprite. It will just change the width. Ok good luck and have fun. I'm off to go shoot some pool at the bar. Talk to you later.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, why does the health behavior exist if you can just use a variable?
