I need some reinsurance.

I'm currently in a dispute with someone over a item I sold on Paypal. Please tell me who is in the right. Me or the buyer?

Hello, this item was recently on eBAY but the listing ended. The buyer messaged me before, and I messaged him back asking if he still wanted to purchase the item. He purchased the item, and sent payment. I then shipped out the item, with a tracking number. The buyer received the item, as described, it wasn't in working order and the buyer said he was going to attempt to fix it. When that failed, he blamed me for not listing the item correctly when I listed the item as not in working order. His last email was the following, and I will forward it as necessary.

"I did read the listing but only for like a second because right before I finished the list closed." Meaning, he didn't read it fully enough to see I posted that it wasn't in working order. Is it my fault he didn't read the listing? Thank you.

Imma put you in the right here, assuming you detailed your item being "not working" and such but the buyer failing to read product details but still went on to buy it. I guess it's his fault for still buying it even though he lacked information which i'm guessing wasn't your fault. If you're willing to go through trouble and don't mind refunding the guy back for your item, make the guy happy. If you know that your item can be fixed i guess it isn't so bad for the buyer and maybe you could advise him on getting it fixed.

I understand, and that's exactly what happened. The only issue here is I don't have the money to reimburse him for it, or else I'd give him a refund. I just hope Paypal understands. I have pictures of the item previous to shipment, that I'm going to put up as evidence. Thank you for your input.

Seconded. As long as you flat out said it wasn't functional, it's his own fault for not reading. You should feel no guilt over this.

Yeh, thirded.

You said in the listing it wasn't working. He knew that it wasn't working else he would've complained at the start rather than trying to fix it. That means he was hoping for a major bargain if the item was fixable. It wasn't so the buyer is now complaining therefore buyer is a dick and you have right on your side.

However just because you are in the right it doesn't mean that paypal will see it that way as they usually tend to side with the buyer rather than the seller so if I was you I'd try to scrape up the funds for a repayment just in case.

Nope, it's not your fault. If he didn't read all of the listing, he wouldn't have known that it wasn't in working condition.
