I quit Ingress

Probably no one here plays it but oh well. I had a 149 day old portal that I had been recharging. It was on a ski slope which I visited in winter and I thought if it survived that winter surely it would last a year (had a bunch of other ones that for taken within a month but not this one). Who would want to go to the mountains in the middle of spring or summer? But no, he went all the way down there (four hour drive plus having to pay national park entrance fees) just to kill it. If it had been 100 or 120 days old I would have thought nothing of it, just someone going down for some non winter activities like hiking or fishing or something who happened to be going through there. But no, he goes down there a few hours before it is about to give me a black guardian badge. Probably using illegal scraper software to be able to know its age so precisely. I don't even play much, probably once a week only in my local area, I don't do any big missions or anything (there's people that spend hours a day driving all over the place to play who tend to get targeted by the other team). He had no reason to target me. Makes me sooooo maaaad. And also a bit sorry for him that he seems to spend all his waking hours playing this dumb game. Anyway rant over. Now I will gain 1 or 2 hours a week to do something more productive :-p

Let's be honest, people like that who have nothing better to do than spend all their time going far away just for a game (that isn't even really any fun) are sad... And I don't mean that as in feeling sad, but rather as in being pathetically pitiful!

Well I mean addiction is a serious issue. Not exactly pathetic. Anyway, enjoy the extra time for Xenoblade 2 @Quantumcat (you better have Xenoblade 2)

Nope no Xenoblade, tried it on 3DS and didn't really like it, but maybe I should give it another go :-p

They fixed the battle system, made the story more interesting, and made it much more user friendly. I highly suggest giving it a second chance. If the game really isn't for you, that's..... very understandable.

Let's also not forget that X2 has less grinding of the painful kind, making it more enjoyable overall...

Well there is more games to try, also 3DS Xenoblade chronicles is not the best choice, the original wii is. :ninja:

Also I no idea what ingress is. But again, more fun games to play with better people or that you can do better. :P

@S. A. K. Ingress is a fun game, and gives you something to do when going on bike rides or walks so it doesn't feel pointless. But it isn't fun when people take it way too seriously

Maybe it's a bit like Pokémon. It is fun to play amongst your friends who all spend the same amount of time on the game as you do and do it mostly for fun not to win at all costs. If you had to battle people who spend hours a day on it and have perfectly IV trained etc etc legendaries then it's no longer fun cause you'd have to spend way more time than you want being competitive

I saw a thread on Xenoblade 2 on the Switch games forum, it sounds super complicated!! Neither turn-taking nor games where you have to grind are really my scene. But I could take advantage of EB games' good holiday return policy to give it a go - you have until 12 January to return games for any reason

@Quantumcat actually, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is not as complex as people think, the game has a tutorial, and provides helpful tips.

https://gbatemp.net/threads/xenoblade-chronicles-2-help-and-support-thread.490926/

The thread here, has helpful information that you can use if anyone feels overwhelmed. I actually finished the game in 6 days, so I know just about as much as I can compared to others. For a RPG that tries to be different from conventional methods, is really more of a semi-action game, most of the the gameplay isn't too hard to follow. :)

I have a couple of family friends who play the game but, it never peaked my interest. Wasn't that also the other Niantic AR game?
