I took a trip to my local Goodwill.

If you like retro games you should really consider checking out your local Goodwill/thrift store every once in a while. I grabbed a bunch of PC games for $2 each like Call of Duty and The Sims. I also got a disc which has a fish screensaver on it, so I guess that's a thing. Not exactly the elusive dancing baby 3d screensaver I'd been searching for but I'll take it. Oh yeah, if you want a Wii balance board, for the love of god to goodwill. my goodwill had FOUR of them. There was also some other neat stuff like keyboards, mice, monitors, and even a huge typewriter. I know that this is really uninteresting but hey I felt like sharing and you know what, this is MY blog. If you want interesting, one time I walked in there and the first thing i saw was 30+ sealed copies of the Jimmy Neutron GBA video. If anyone actually bothered to read this, what are some weird/cool things you've found in thrift stores? would love to know. :)

Thrift shops usually have a great deals on older electronics especially video games. I mean, you never know what they're going to have and they don't have the newest games on demand, but if you're into retro stuff they're a great place to find old tech. I've built up a pretty large PS3 game library on the cheap from my local one. You'll often find stuff as old as Atari 2600's for great deals. Original Wii stuff is almost always in stock, but I'll find deals on Atari 2600 and NES often. I've personally bought original Wii, modded and resold them, I bought an original Phat NDS and installed an internal flashcard into it (soldering required(tm)), I purchased a $300 DTS Audio Receiver for $20, portable AM/FM radio for $2, Bluray movies for $2-$5 each, DVD movies for $1 each and various house hold items.

I love thrifting! Something about the "you never know what you'll find" vibe makes it kind of exciting :-)

I'll add that you should definitely remember to check the backs of the discs. I once made an exciting purchase and daydreamed about it the entire drive home, only to be disappointed by a scratched up disc :'-'(

My rule is it's not a goodwill unless they have something wii fit related. but you literally never know what you're gonna find at goodwill. I've found a hacked wii with a 1TB hard drive, a CIB dreamcast, a CIB hyperscan, a wavebird,a corsair PC case with RGB fans, a Mario Kart 8 Steelbook, and at least one N64 at goodwill stores alone.

Goodwill is truly the best. I’ve found ridiculously good stuff there in all my years of thrifting. California especially so, with a $4 DSi, and a 7$ PS3, and so much more.

Not long ago I got a copy of Smash Bros Melee at Goodwill for $2. It's fairly scratched up, but it still plays just fine on my GCN/Wii, so it was a great deal considering the game still goes for $40 or $50 on eBay at a minimum.

@cauliquackers if you still have the disk you could look into geting it resurfaced some game stores do this and it makes it good as new

i have a thrift store that gets a lot of stuff weekly. I am out of space for consolese tho. :X

@RyuShinobi500 You can just buy the device that strips off the top layer of the disc yourself. If you do this though make a backup right away. The disc will become much easier to damage afterwards.

If your local thrift shop/charity shop frequently has good deals and not just endless racks of sports games, third party controllers/controller addons and sub par minigame collections then while I can appreciate not burning a source do know you can probably flog a lot of it on around here.

Im just bad at selling stuff. @chary can confirm the piles and piles of nonsense i have acquired
