@Seliph I seriously regret not starting when I was younger. A lot of unchecked rage and anger towards the world was the result of repressing who I am and not listening to myself. When I was 13, being trans was seen as a weird “fetish” and “mentally ill,” I don’t even have a perspective on what it was like to be non-binary/grander fluid. Still, I knew I wasn’t cis at a very young age. Even my family knew I wasn’t cis and brought up constantly that as a child I would say “I am both a boy and a girl,” but of course thought that was just the result of a silly gender confused child. Now as an adult I still struggle with having been forced to go through a puberty I didn’t want and forced to live as a cis male for so long. Point being, trans people know they are trans.

"My goal is to bring rational arguments" If no one understand your arguments. Your arguments are kind of flawed no?

It depends on where you are in the World.

The goal of Law and Order is twofold, as stated on the tin.
The latter accounts for consistency, which is what people expect from a stable Civilisation.

So when things start sounding paradoxical, the root of the problem is still a ways further.
Simple examples are U.S. Gun Laws, Racism and Transgender role in Society.

It might take a while to get to the root, and it will take a lot more work to change it so it is consistent.

... As in your use of literally, it is incorrect and cherry-picked for your argument.

I am totally fine with that, by the way.
My effort to explain is not something that works me up because that was never the intent.

If I were to dumb it down, I can make it simpler by going back to the points that Seliph put down.

My explanation is for Children.
Children are legally too young to give consent to a variety of things that, historically were trivial but now, in Modern Society are serious.

The most legally-suspect of Seliph's argument is that nobody is forcing Children to transition.
Refer back to Children not being legally competent to make these decisions.

People can also argue that nobody is forcing Children to enjoy alcohol or sexual intercourse; that is besides the point.

tomasowa So basically your argument is just connecting knowledge of one’s identity to consenting to sex and alcohol.
Yeah, that’s not how identity actually works.

oh boy! the transphobe is here, well if i've been in this situation before i'd just stop talking to them, trust me it'll just ruin your day, nothing they say can change who you really are so why bother trying to get them to reason with you

... Yeah, that's not how stringing logic works, either.

Do you really want to go into an argument with me about the definition of Identity and the roles of Pleasure and Sexuality within it or are you just quick-firing and Googling later.

@tomasowa I am not arguing with you. Your comments made no sense and quite honestly it just sounds more like you are trying to sound smart by stringing together random thoughts.

Also in Europe drinking laws are very lax for young people, so that doesn't really work.

You're drawing a false equivalence between having sex/drinking alcohol and being trans. I fail to see the comparison. Each situation is entirely different.

We can trust the decision of kids to undergo chemotherapy for cancer, why can't we trust the decision of kids to undergo hormone treatment for dysphoria? I remind you that hormone treatment is very easily reversible, especially during puberty. It is also less dangerous than a procedure like chemotherapy. In addition, many kids live for years as their chosen gender before undergoing hormone treatment, they know who they are. If we allow children to dress how they want, use what pronouns they want, what name they want and what mannerisms they want then it becomes pretty clear what they want for themselves.

I speak from experience saying that I know what I want. I'm technically apparently not old enough to drink alcohol or smoke or whatever (not that that stops me ;) ), but I know and have known for a while that I am certainly trans. And have not once regretted transition.

I can't really say why I come off like that to you, and I'm starting to sound like an old record by now.

If you believe it is just me and my opinion then I suggest you look at how every other Country outside of the Western ones you know are dealing with Child Transgender.

This is the same logic we all use and, my wall of text was a historic preamble of why whole Countries approach Childhood as I do.
So that you don't think we're all just heathens here trying to cast Transgenders aside; the Cultures that make up my Ancestry have lived with them longer than Western counterparts.

I didn't come here to piss on them.

@seliph well, I agree and disagree with you.
It's a hard question. Is it a real dysphoria or something else causing this? Is depression heavily linked to it? Is it just an escape for reality? Research is going heavily in to the topic, since it's a new thing this sudden of explosion of people claiming to be trans.

That's probably the only reason I have against kids deciding until they're older. Else it's not up to me what they wanna do.
