It's raining sideways

If some of you don't know already (Australian tempers should be in the know) the eastern side of Australia has been having crazy rain and insane floods. I'm in Queensland at the moment in Brisbane which was all fine and dandy until now where the Brisbane river is going to overflow along with other sources of water and flood the CBD, surrounding areas and some other places in Brisbane.
Already in Toowoomba, west of Brisbane as been hit hard by the floods with water gushing down streets, houses ripped apart and so much more.

EDIT: is the Youtube working?

Anyway I've been delayed like crazy for getting some parts for a new PC build from Umart , and now I won't be able to get them today and probably not for a couple days since that area has been reported flooded at the moment but stores around that area have sandbagged themselves and moved all their stock into moving trucks and stuff to secure it.

Yes, YouTube is working, you just did your tags wrong.

Anyway, I heard about what's going on. Hope nothing too bad happens there.

Alrighty fixed up the tags.

The news said that the rains were only going to be horrible in Brisbane for today and that it was going to be light showers all round afterwards, here's to hoping tomorrow won't be a shit fest and I can get my build on.

I remember when the UK flooded a few years back. My old man was driving me and my brother from here in Coventry to Swansea. We got caught in the floods and the journey which should have taken about two hours took closer to nine. Wasn't pleasant.

I don't actually know anyone in Australia. Although I did absolutely brick myself when I heard about the earthquakes in New Zealand a while back because one of my best friends lives out there and the quake happened about 2 minutes away from her house. But either way, I extend my best wishes to all our Australian tempers and wish you good luck on your swim to work :P

I just hope they don't hit Melbourne.

Regardless, you might want to pack a few things just in case the floods get close to you.

The sad thing is that living in the UK as I do, bitching about the rain is pretty much all we have. Now we can't even do that any more. What have we got left aside from queueing?

And I suddenly remembered the tyhpoon Basyang that came here last August(?)
:angry2:

Good thing it cant flood where we are in Brisbane but it'll most likely flood as close as a few km away.

My house is pretty safe from any flooding, which is lucky.
From what you can see on the news it's pretty insane in some places, and R.I.P the 10 dead and possibly 80 unconfirmed...

Thursday's supposed to be worse than the '74 floods (Which were huge.) Hopefully things don't turn out that way...

Watched it on aca's live coverage yesterday and it's really bad atm, there was one place that its supposed to get 22 meters or something close, (Toowoomba, I think) pretty bad.

GBAtemp should be legally obligated to ban them, as its against the law to collect information from users under 13 because of COPPA. :tpi:

VR is like 3D TVs in my opinion it's cool and all but it doesn't have enough great content.

VR had the chance to integrate with existing games and tech but VR companies said "NO, I WANT MY SHIT TO BE STANDALONE AND MY GAMES EXCLUSIVE TO FACEBOOK"

  • Veho @ Veho:
Back when Oculus Rift was still starting out and being demoed around, they modded existing games to use it as a 360° immersive screen thing and that was AMAZING.

The tech isn't there for affordable power enough VR headsets at a good market value yet sadly, oculus had a good idea but didn't have enough funds for marketing iirc

But now it's "can I use my VR set with my racing games, that would be neat?" "ONLY IF YOU USE OUR DILDOSTICK CONTROLLERS AND RUN THE GAME ON OUR ANDROID-UNDERPOWERED BRICK"

  • Veho @ Veho:
The tech to have quality VR goggles at an affordable price is here, but every set has to have 4 additional controllers and be standalone.

These are the same type of gamers that spend $2,000 on a GPU when a $600 GPU gives nearly the same outcome which is what the market looks at for them to do spend more on unneeded bs

If we're talking AAA titles a vr headset would be priced at nearly the same cost as a midrange gaming pc maybe even double
