I've been 70 hours Soft-Resetting Pokemon for a Shiny Kyurem

But I still can't find one...
I'm not sure if I should continue. I want to continue playing the game. I've soft resetted the game for more time than I have played it and I stopped playing my console games in order to use my time to soft reset. But if I give up now, everything would have been in vain...

What should I do?

I had a bunch of shinnies back with my Gold and Silver games. An abra, haunter (traded with a friend), kakuna (caught at that park contest and evolved into a green beedrill =3).
Those I lost when I made new saves, but I got more after: a light blue nidoking, a girafarig, a hatched igglybuff and the last was my favorite, an arcanine =3. Never got Shinnies on the latter generations though.

LOL, i remember the first time i saw a shiny, it was a shiny zubat. i thought it was a bug. and i chose to run away.

so you can run away.. Always thought that it was not possible (never took the courage to do this aside from the red gyarados battle, which is obligatory).
70 hours? Damn you're hardcore. I usually give up trying to get shinies after a few tries. You have a 1 in 8192 chance of acquiring your shiny Kyurem, so good luck lol.
hasnt this number recently changed?
Ill get back to you
EDIT: Correction, Im totes wrong

Correct me if I am wrong but weren't the following Pokemon "*encounter events" made to prevent the PID from resulting in a Shiny Pokemon?;

Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Victini, Melloetta, Keldio, and Genosect

It has something to do with Gamefreak being lame and attempting to re-release limited-edition Legendaries at upcoming events in the future. [Possibly only in Japan.]

I know for a fact that people have used RNG to result in a Shiny Victini but every time the RNG was Abused to result in a shiny, the game would not initiate the battle but instead loop the RNG till it results in a non-shiny.

*Encounter Event: You interact with the Pokemon to start the battle.
I have never caught a shiny Pokemon, but I have heard they have better stats than regular Pokemon. I wish you luck.
Nope, shiny pokemon don't have better stats, just loook cool xD. Oddly enough, I've captured a shiny psyduck, medicham, pidove, and hoothoot legitly. weird huh?
2) I don't have a girlfriend... yet.
Maybe that's because you spend 70 hours trying to get a shiny pokemon?

:creep:

I read that information from somewhere... Forgot exactly which part it was at but I think it was on Serebii so I didn't even bother into getting a shiny Reshiram or Zekrom.

This,

Playtime hours and shiney pokemon pl0x

Surely if he kept soft-resetting without saving then the playtime wouldn't have increased over those 70 hours.
It finally appeared! And I caught it with a Premier Ball! Yay! Now I'm going to sleep for 24 hours!!! *Goes to sleep*
I wish I had your dedication for legit. I've only seen one shiny for real; it was in the Fire Red Battle Tower, and it was one of my favorite Pokemon. Espeon. :(

I feel sorry for you :P

I remember battling a shiny once, but I didnt know why it had that strange color, I just thought of a bug and didnt catch the little guy. Years later I realized what a shiny pokemon was, ha ha.

I was originally unlucky with catching, the only shiny I encountered was a whismur in emerald.

Then in Gen4 I started reading guides on bulbapedia and such about breeding because it interested me how such a system was in the game, and I started breeding shinies a lot (often on accident while experimenting), but I haven't done it in ages.

....thats a good point lol

i remember during Pokemon fire red, i had found a hand full (makes sense since i had clocked like 400 hours into it)

if i remember i had found, shiny zubat, machop, venoat and magnemite.

- best days of my life

@Costello: lol i thought the same thing, but i caught the pokemon anyway.

EDIT: forgot the fire -

to be specific i found the zubat in the sevii island cave that only has zubats in it, the machop @ victory road, the Magnamite in the power plant, and i believe the venonat i found on the route that is to the left of Fuschia town - in the patches of grass there / for anyone going for these , flock to places where you fine abundantly of the SAME pokemon; it helps.

Im hoping you mean Fire Red lol, cause shinys werent around in normal reds time lol

and here we go, Bulbapedia is my source:

In Generation III, most of the data structures were redone. As such, a Pokémon's Shininess would no longer need to be linked to its stats due to incompatibilities between the previous generations. The determinant for Shininess is instead a calculation based on the Trainer ID number and secret ID number of the player encountering it and the personality value of the Pokémon. The same method is used in Generations IV and V.

The secret ID and Trainer ID byte words are first xored together, and then the first byte word of the personality value is xored with the second byte word of the personality value. If the xor of these two results is less than eight, then the Pokémon is Shiny. This results in a probability of 8 in 65536; simplified as 1/8192 (2-13, or approximately 0.012207%), just as in Generation II. Symbolically:

(Trainer ID) xor (Secret ID) = E

(First byte word of personality value) xor (Second byte word of personality value) = F

If E xor F is less than eight, then the Pokémon is Shiny.

In the Trainer Tower in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen there are three Trainers which have Shiny Pokémon. In the single battle mode, the seventh Trainer has a Shiny Meowth, while in double battle mode, the first pair of Trainers have a Shiny Espeon. In another series of battles, a Trainer will send out a Shiny Seaking.

Several Pokémon Battle e Trainers have Pokémon which are preset as Shiny.

In Generation IV, some Pokémon, such as Mystery Gifts and Ranger Manaphy, cannot be Shiny due to the game's code. However, the Ranger Manaphy's Shininess won't be altered by the game if traded to a second cartridge as an egg (changing the ID and SID). There are other methods which make obtaining alternately colored Pokémon a little bit easier: the Masuda method and the Poké Radar slightly raise the probabilities of hatching Pokémon from eggs and catching Pokémon from the wild, respectively.

In the Veilstone Game Corner, in the second mode on the slot machines, a Clefairy appears on the lower screen. There are three kinds of Clefairy: a Ditto that has transformed into a Clefairy, a normal Clefairy, and a Shiny Clefairy. Shiny Clefairy are the rarest and last for the most rounds, but are not as rare as encountering a wild Shiny Pokémon.

Shiny Pokémon are again highlighted in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, where the red Gyarados makes its return as a plot point, while Shiny Pokémon also appear in their Shiny state as walking Pokémon when they follow the player.

In Generation V, Pokémon in the Pokédex will appear Shiny if the first specimen of that Pokémon encountered is Shiny.

A special event has been released that will allow the player to encounter a wild Zoroark if one of the Shiny legendary beasts released with the thirteenth movie is transferred forward to Generation V.

The game is programmed so that Reshiram, Zekrom and certain Victini will never be encountered Shiny. However, like all Pokémon, these Pokémon have Shiny sprites.
I just had an idea. One day I bought this USB slot that allow me to rip save files from cartridges and load them up again. I believe I bought the one that was compatible with Soul Silver and Heart Gold (Some sort of + version.) Will that one work with Black?

EDIT: It's called NDS Adapter Plus.
use a flashcard and Rudolph save back up tool

there are some tutorials how to set it up along with an FTP and everything - all you need is a flashcard and a router that you can access

you can extract and write saves using it, no problem.

Here is a general and quick guide : http://www.ehow.com/how_5157993_back-up-ds-games.html

i remember i followed one with pictures and stuff, can't find it though - Google should be your friend here.
