Life in a holiday camp!

How's it going fellow tempers! Tomorrows my first day off since starting at the holiday camp so I thought I'd pop home and catch up on some things! Life at the holiday camp has been pretty damned good! It's been bastard hard work but pretty much everyone there's been pretty cool. I'm getting on well with the other kitchen staff and the lads I'm sharing the accomodation with are sound.

The rooms better then I thought it was going to be. The rooms a pretty decent size and I'm getting free heat and water. It's a little run down but for 30 quid a week I've got no complaints, specially seeing as how I get free meals as well - and the meals are pretty damned good too! I was half-expecting prison quality food but the meals are big and it's great quality food I don't get paid for another fortnight so I ain't been able to hit the pubs that are on camp, but as there's some pretty fine women drinking in there every night when payday comes I will most definitely there!

Not alot exciting has happened obviously as it's only been a week and a bit that I've been there, but looking at all the shit that's going on over the summer it's going to be a blast I reckon.

So how's life treating my fellow tempers?

As far as I can tell the whole point of such a job is you do not really have to pay for booze, disappointing there TrolleyDave. At this point I should also mention that for me it is a contest between Welsh cider and Cornish cider as to what causes the worst beer goggles, some advance warning there.

Back on topic glad you are enjoying it, although my experience (and it was very much in passing) is the other side of the fence I am sure if I were to do such a thing there would end up being some people vanish before long.

I was hoping I'd be able to get away with free booze for a while but not had any luck. There's been a few parties but it's all sports staff and I've tried introducing myself to em but they seem to have taken an instant disliking to me. Don't really give a fuck as that's just life, but it would have been a great way to meet some of the women on the camp. heh So it'll just be a case of when I get paid hit the bars. I don't get a discount in the bars which kind of sucks but at least I've got somewhere to go for a few bevvies after work.

The only problem with the camp at the mo is it's full of scosers! And the really skally kind as well. Still it's early days yet so I reckon there'll be a good mix of people when the season really kicks in.

Cheers mate! I'd definitely recommend it as an experience for anyone looking for something different. It's harder work then any other job I've done before but the benefits are great! I'm just waiting for the summer and the fine females in their bikinis!

Glad to hear you're going alright there Dave. Sounds like hard work, but decent people and accommodations. I don't know about you, but I can always deal with the hard work part. It's the dealing with people I can't stand part that drives me crazy. So I'd take hard work with decent folks over the alternative any day.

Sucks about not being able to get to the pub just yet, but hopefully you'll be able to make due until payday.

Anyway, glad to hear you're getting on alright, and that the job didn't turn out to be a disaster. Don't forget to keep yourself in good shape so some rich broad can take you home and make you her sex toy. :grog:

Oh man how comes I didnt spot this until now?

I miss you already man!

Anyway Im glad your having a good time, sounds like its fun as jobs go. And also fuck the sports jocks man, they are always hostile because of the small size of their testicles.

They fear the size of your grapefruit's man! :creep:

Some explanation for Szyslak,
Scouse is a type of stew popular in Liverpool* and continuing the tradition of insulting people based on food (see French being called frogs by the English, the French calling English les rosbifs....) those from Liverpool are called Scousers (calling someone from Liverpool by the name may get get you hit, ignored, endeared or laughed at depending on the situation). There is also the implication that scousers are thieves or otherwise unfavourably (scally is a far stronger implication mind).
It is also commonly associated with the Liverpool accent ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mSaN40FZG4&fmt=6 )

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
