My history teacher likes K-Pop

For me it would be that they dont sing randomly about 1 single word through the whole song. They can dance which is cool. They can sing live. They can still sing despite auto-tuning. Well, most known and famous western music can actually do this too, but the fact that only a few can do this, while the rest is lipsynching is sad.


I guess im going to give up on arguing with Prowler. He can stay in his own corner and do his victory cry for all i care. Haters gonna hate.

I don't listen to pop, so I'm not too familiar on how auto tuned they generally are.

you aren't encumbered by how cheesy the lyrics are because you can't understand them. same how foreign movies seem better because you can't quite tell if the acting is good or bad or if there is a cultural nuance

That is, when the lyrics are actually cheesy, and that's usually the case in anime, not the music as a whole.

Why do some people hate western pop, but love K-pop/J-pop? DarkStriker being a perfect example. Admittedly, I haven't watched a lot of either, but from what I have watched, I don't see how you can hate one and love the other. They're basically the same type of music with a different language.

They are vastly different styles, so for the most part I don't like Western Rock (Though I try to) for a multitude of reasons that in J-Rock don't exist. I don't really know how to put it into words, but the way the songs are played are vastly different, as are the way the songs are sung and the pattern of the lyrics, making the music very different.

I liked k-pop for a bit until I figured out that American pop music is about 100 times better. But it is interesting especially when you start finding parts of k-pop songs that sound nearly identical to american pop music. They copy cat a lot but it sounds somewhat unique and their music videos are entertaining to watch.

I think I got all of that out of my system but I came across it in a Korean server in halflife2 deathmatch and that is where I started looking into it. It is very easy to find on download sites through google.

But all in all, american pop music is MUCH and tremendously better.

You've said it more than once that western boy bands/songs suck, or at least implied it.

Here we go:

Most of those western boy bands cant dance like the korean. And even if they could, they wouldnt be able to do such a intense dance on their music video or live.

that but there is only so much you can translate. there is so many ways you say the same thing. for example if you were to translate "i wanna sex you up" which is so completely bad and cheesy to korean, you may end up with "i wanna make love to you" and koreans would be ooh what a sweet song. but us americans are like wtf?

it's like people that were shirts they don't understand.
