Need to break ipod touch homebutton

Here is my story. I HORRIBLY cracked my ipod touch 4g. I really need a new one. So i still have the limited 1 year defult warrenty with it. Could i break my ipods home button and tell them the button is defective would they give me a new one? And if the answer is yes to the new one how can i break my home button?

If I were to break it, I would open the ipod itself and de-solder the connector from the home button to the motherboard (or atleast loosen the connection so it no longer works) That would be the best bet, cause then it would look like bad soldering on their part and they should replace it.

They may catch onto you though, and even if you send it in like that they may just fix the button and leave the screen cracked.

Knowing apple though they'll just replace it, they did when I had problems with my mac book air, they moved the hard drive to the replacement and just gave me a new machine (bar the hard drive) and that was for a faulty keyboard

Im not sure if the home button is soldered on, it was just a guess, usually (and im going from controllers etc) theres usually a pressure pad that pushes onto a connector on a mini motherboard, if you just remove the pressure pad (or move it slightly so it doesnt connect properly) that should do you well

I was thinking more along the lines of not opening my ipod.

Listen buddy. I broke my screen. If your not going to post anything that will help me get a new ipod then don't post at all [/jerk]

If you broke your screen and then decided to also break your home button (On purpose mind you.) just to get a new ipod (Which could be illegal.)....

Anyone else seeing what I'm saying?

DELETE YOUR POST!!!

I don't see a point in deleting a possibly truthful statement. ._.
Also, shouldn't you be blaming yourself if you busted your own screen?

I dont think this is right tagzard,
You just recently made a thread to get some sympathy and I dont wanna sound mean but this is a thing that people would not like you for its wrong and its taking advantage of people.

EDIT: You can always go to a store and pay them to fix it or the applestore will sometimes do the first time for free

God forbid he get a free replacement for a overpriced piece of junk from a multi-trillion dollar organization.
Get over it.

Does it matter? So much stuff happens on this forum that's "wrong" but people still help others do it and no one speaks against it.
