No bluetooth headset support for ps4? (WHY SONY!)

You know, is strange. I been considering trying to get a headset for while now but I did get one. I'm glad with the one I got, but I hate that ps4 doesn't use it. That's one reason why I hate sony. When ps3 came out, which was (over 10 years ago) It had wifi and bluetooth, players like you or me, can connect a bluetooth compatible headset to the system to hear your friends chat or talk back to them as if in the same room during the online multiplayer games. Then even some games had special features that functioned with it. I remember playing Metal Gear solid 4 (which by the way just saying, would be good to port to ps4 to have 60FPS or even higher than 1080P HD) allowed users to hear extended special conversations not spoken during normal play. For the first time, I felt like snake for once in some black ops mission with a codec in my ear, talking to my favorite characters.

Then ps4 came out. Most of the same previously stated concept exist, but one problem I dislike, the console doesn't use bluetooth headsets! Instead, it comes with a dualshock 4 controller that has built in speakers that plays specific "AMBIANCE NOISES" when triggered during specified in game events. This controller also allows you to connect a AUX cable to your headphones, to listen to the audio from the game through your headset or the specific audio as explained in the previous statement, which is nice and all, but why no bluetooth connections for ps4? PS3 had it, no problem, that was released in 2006, but this ps4 was released in 2013, that when the decision to not have the feature was decided? Even with 2 hardware revisions of slim which offered 5ghz wifi and the pro system which is a upgrade, none of which has the bluetooth headset function.

Now I know you can use headsets with ps4, you get one included with the system console bundle, it works like it should by plugging it into the controller, or you can use a USB headset, or even if you just want a microphone, the ps4 camera has one part of the system... which is now separate purchase cause they stopped including it in the system for obvious reasons that I won't mention, but like I said already, some games and the system itself uses voice operations, Tomb Raider has voice options for the game, to do stuff with your voice, but is just confusing to not understand why remove such a thing.

Now I understand that if you was one of the few who bought the ps4 on day one in 2013 and it included the camera that has the microphone, but what about the people who didn't get the microphone? Could you have thought maybe include a controller revision that features a built in microphone instead of something like this.:glare:

The one, new defining aesthetic change is the shift of the blue light-bar from the top of the controller on the older model, to just above the touch-pad on the new DS4.The only other change is that the new PlayStation 4 controller features USB communication. Unlike the original DS4, it means you’ll be able to play games either wirelessly or via a USB cable.Other features, such as battery, motion-sensing functionality and Bluetooth support remain the same, as well as its wireless connectivity.

What do you want me to say about this? It looks exactly like the other one. Except for the lightbar is visible through the top of the touchpad. I admit, it looks a bit nice and all, especially since it changes color a lot, before i didn't notice that it was cause of the games i play cause i never did bother to look, but since i can see it without having to turn the thing around it got my attention. Still maybe a microphone in the controller would have been nice. Even if you didn't have a headset, you STILL be able to use voice communications with the system much like the wii u gamepad. Maybe it would cost more money, but still would be nice to have one... or include bluetooth function for headsets!

I bet plenty of you don't care about this, just would say "Just buy a usb headset, is better anyway" or "just use the ones supplied with the system." I still want to know why the ps3 has the feature but ps4 doesn't, even the vita has it and even worst, it has a built in microphone, so you have a option to use bluetooth headset or the microphone.

"But bluetooth headset don't exist!!!!1! Nobody has them!!1! That's why no headphone jack on the iPhone is UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!11!1"

Ive heard they only accept their own, so you need to buy a sony product.

*go read your post now*

edit:
I see you speak about additional audio feature, not necessarily redirecting all the game's output to BT. I didn't know nor thought about that feature in MGS, that's nice.

you don't have any audio lag when using BT ?
I bought one, but I can't even stand watching TV with it, the slight lag is so annoying when people are speaking you see moving lips without sound, and sound without lips, SFX is lagged etc.

my TV has a "delay audio" option to fix the video post processing lag, but no "delay picture" option :(

edit2:
PS4 wireless headphone
you need the PS4's BT headphone to use BT :(

Maybe Sony realised bluetooth sucks and are doing what they can to diminish its presence, knowing Sony probably to one of their proprietary pieces of actually kind of alright and broadly functional but expensive tech.

Also "cause they stopped including it [the camera] in the system for obvious reasons that I won't mention"
I don't find the reasons obvious. In fact I still maintain the best way to get the feature used by games is to actually have it reasonably available to all.

Maybe there's a reason to buy one of these then? https://www.amazon.com/YOUNGFLY-Ver...rd_wg=I2mEo&psc=1&refRID=9TX8CERZDYVS2WDPB5EY

I also just bought one of the newer PS4 controllers at bestbuy for $50. I saw they left an old tag from a sale a long time ago for the magma red colour so I got them to. Funny thing about the controller needing a mic, in the game Drawn to Death during the tutorial the games mascot gets you to yell into the mic in your controller to reload. The mascot quickly teases you saying there is no voice recognition in the game...

@Luckkill4u Hmm, seem like it may be useful, thanks. :)

@FAST6191 Okay, perhaps I wasn't in the right position to say is obvious, so then I'll just say why i think it was removed.
  • Lower cost of the overall purchase of the product.
  • Assuming Microsoft did it first with the xbox one purchase, to compete with the price value.
  • very underwhelming use of the accessory.
Just a few ideas.

@Cyan from my understanding, the playstation 4 uses bluetooth 4.0 Whatever that means. I assume that has some improvement over input/output delays made minimal compared to previous bluetooth versions. If the intention was to stop using bluetooth, it would be completely removed. The headphones i bought work well on all my stuff, it has seemingless delay between visual and audio. My android tv, nvidia shield does have a bluetooth 4.0 and also has options for adjusting audio sync, but it works with no need flawlessly in my opinion. Also that headset seem way too expensive, and again, is not what I'm looking for.

What i want is to connect my headset to the system's bluetooth, not need external accessories. But apparently sony assumes is the best way for audio communications is either using a USB headset or plugging it into the controller. I concede that they removed the function, is not gonna change, but i just wanna know why, also wanna know why they didn't think about my idea of a mic into the controller. They have a speaker and flashing light bar, vibrations and no mic?
