Not enough time in a day

I never feel like there's enough time in a day to do everything. Like, I wake up at 2 or 3 PM, go "Fuck, I slept in. I'll sleep at midnight tonight instead, I've got some sleeping pills I can use to help."

Then it's 11:50 PM. And I should be ready for bed.

But I'm not.

I still want to do more things. More games to play, work on music, talk to my friends, work on my Magic decks, et cetera. So I just think "I'll sleep at 1:30 or 2 instead. There's no way I could even sleep this early."

Then it's 2:30 and I'm in a voice chat with a friend, and I don't wanna say goodbye yet, regardless of the fact we both needed to sleep 2 hours ago. Or I'm in the middle of a game. Or I just gotta write down this one kickass riff..

And it's 3:30 AM now. Fuck. Okay, at least I can sleep at 4. Let's get ready for bed.
I brush my teeth, clean my face, take off my glasses.. And let's check GBATemp, I think I have new alerts. And maybe say something in the Insignia server. Check up on the RC24 server. Now it's 5:45 AM and the sun is up. And I'm still not really tired. Maybe it's just my ADHD. I have no clue, but no matter what, every day seems to work out like this. Maybe I shouldn't beat myself up about it so much, it's not like I'm gonna go anywhere and do anything with the coronavirus pandemic still happening.

Any advice?

Lol i know this feeling all too well. I never get everything I wanted to get done in a day.

Sometimes setting an alarm to wake me up early helps get back on schedule, but I usually still stay up way too late. Then I end up just being tired that entire day.

I have lots of stuff to create but I get distracted easily, especially while working. Sometimes putting movies on while working can help, but even then I have to resist the urge to get back online.

For falling asleep earlier, I use MST3k or Rifftrax movies that I've seen at least 5 times already. Calming music might help too.

Best of luck to you! We can all struggle with the 24hr days together.

An important part of feeling well, is generally following a sleep schedule. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with it, I find that dimming my screens/not using screens a bit before bed really helps me out.

It's crazy, this is also part of the reason why long RPGs like what I mentioned in my blogpost are the kinds that I'm most afraid to sink any time into because I'm not sure if I'm gonna feel guilty for starting it and possibly missing out on something great if and or when the game starts to get grindy, becomes tedious to play, or some mix of the two. Not to mention, considering that there's a lot you can do on a PC that simply wouldn't be possible on a console (like, think about all of the stuff that's been developed exclusively for Windows and x86 processors and how no-BS it is to run it and configure it on a Windows OS, even if it is Windows 10 and you're looking for some distro of Linux that hopefully won't give you a headache to get everything up and running just as well as it did on any version of Windows), like making multiple MUGEN games or playing games with mods and the like, it can be hard to decide whether you want to play music, listen to a podcast, work on amplifying some music that you...ahem, "obtained" at some point that no one decided to convert into even .mp3 (when I personally think the entirety of the Internet should just switch to legitimate .flac recordings at this point, but .mp3 is more popular and recognized among normies), play games, watch anime, everything in between, which is made even harder when you have a setup that you want to achieve where everything is in one small, convenient box that you want to tweak to the point of not having any compromises, while also having the small physical footprint and ease of carrying the case like with the current case my HTPC is running in.

Goddamnit, I went and made another long post that's basically an unedited stream of consciousness... :(

I strongly agree on the Free Lossless Audio Codec standars.
Since we no longer use 56k modems there is no legit reason to listen to low quality music.
The comunity of people that share bootlegs of live concerts get this. This needs more awareness.

Tell yourself that it's the last thing you're doing for the night, no matter what. You never really find a place where you feel like you're doing everything you want in a day when you do enough to keep your mind always active

@Silent_Gunner This. This is an enormous mood, as the kids say these days.

Huh.. having so many perspectives has been kinda helpful.
