Oh Cartoon Network, what did they do to you?

Remember when Cartoon Network was good? With all the kick-ass shows like Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Courage the Cowardly Dog? Now they have fucking shit on, like Problem Solverz, Gumball, and other dumb crap. From what I read, CN had good shows on in the 90s and from experience, the early 2000s. What are your thoughts on Cartoon Network?

After they got rid of Toonami, Cartoon Network was bound to fail.
Adult Swim still has some good anime's on the weekends though.

Nothing compared to the old days and most of the time is just making fun of their viewers and showing junk like Robot Chicken.

I really do miss the old Cartoon Network. Toonami was the best when I was younger, though now I prefer english subs, it was nice to watch a little bit of anime on TV before i went to sleep. Heck, I kind of liked Maguzi (Miguzi? Muguzi?), when it was still continuing as well. Courage the cowardly dog was a great show, however, I didn't think so when I was younger, as the creepyish theme of the show scared me shitless. Robot Chicken, I also found scary at the time, because I was introduced to horror themed movies like Child's play, Robot chicken wasn't any better for me. Hell, as a kid, I never liked the toys section in the grocery stores, because I was scared that some little doll would get me from behind if I wasn't looking.

I watched Dexter's Laboratory till my eyes bled!
Now when I hear, or see a cartoon network related ad, I feel sorry for kids who will never see great shows like that again

Look up "The Aisle of Mixed-Up Toys."

Cartoon Network used to be great, now it has crap like Flapjack, Chowder, Gumball, Generator Rex, Ben 10, Adventure Time, and etc.
Only time I watch Cartoon Network now is when Ed, Edd, and Eddy comes on.

Dexter, Ed, edd n eddy, JOHNNY BRAVO!!! uuuh... and some classics like flintstones and jetsons (aired in sweden at least)
Courage was awesome...
and the old mother fu---ng Scooby doo!! Best. Show. EVER!
And there was this other cartoon with a lot of CG movies, it was some action adventure stuff... an indian boy, a blonde boy (main) and a girl i think... don't remember much of it.. it was around 94 - 95 in Sweden...

Adventure Time is one of the better shows. I thought it was stupid when I saw a preview, but it's actually somewhat funny.

I'm sure you wasn't only one that felt that way. When I first hard of it thought it would be bad,but I was
wrong.

Remember Camp lazlo?

I never thought Camp Lazlo was going to be bad. Though that show's not old enough to be nostalgic to me.

I meant that first sentence for Adventure Time.

Oh, sorry, I thought you were relating the 2 instances. Either way, CL was a good show.

*sigh* I miss weekdays where first Dragon Ball, then right after would Dragon Ball Z (The Buu Saga at this time), then Yu Yu Hakusho, and finally Rurouni Kenshin.

Of course that point specifically was right before Toonami was moved to Saturday Nights...and then came *shudder* GT...

Symbionic Titan is good, too; I watched some episodes and it looks decent enough. I haven't watched Adventure Time but a lot of people say it's a good show.

Anyway, you're right about Cartoon Network's progressive death... shows like Courage the Cowardly Dog are dead now, although CN probably has the potential to make new good series.

BTW The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy show in hindi translation is called "billy, mandy aur life mei haddi" D: which when translated to english means "Billy,Mandy and bone in life" :rofl2:

OMFG I LOVE THAT!
It aired in India, along with new Teen Titans and Perman (I love that show).
I wub India

that is just what someone was talking about earlier in the thread, nostalgia making them think their cartoons were better than the current ones

while i will agree cartoons in general are going downhill, there are still a few good ones (and did chowder really get cancelled?)

I remember the old days. In fact, I was reminiscing recently. Including old CBBC shows and the like.
I though it was an okay show, but it literally cured me of a serious condition I had, so I owe it my life (not even joking).
What about other cartoon shows?

Tho maybe at least one of those due to nostalgia.

Well, years back I had Kinemortaphobia, or a severe fear of zombies. It was because, against my better judgement, I played hours upon hours of Dead Rising one day when I already had a fear of zombies, amplifying that fear to astronomical levels. It made it so that every night was a terrifying adventure, and I may have resorted to suicide, though I was slightly young at the time. This fear lasted for 3 months, until one night I stayed up a little later than I should have, and Courage the Cowardly Dog was on, and one moment it just...disappeared, I don't even know how to explain it.

Now if I'm exposed to zombies I am susceptible to a rebound, but it fades away on its own after a certain amount of time.
